I’m her grandad and I’m 59. Her dad is bad news.
He’s got a history of addiction to alcohol and drugs and has convictions for attacking my daughter.
He’s 39 and my daughter is 35. My daughter threw him out five years ago.
He’s with another woman now and has a second child with her, but he’s started beating her up so he’s been arrested again.

He was allowed supervised contact with my granddaughter at Christmas, then in February, but after that he disappeared and now we don’t know if he’s dead or alive.
He’s allowed to see her once a month but he never turns up.
He’s always on her mind and she’s forever asking her mum when Daddy will be visiting.
Now my granddaughter’s birthday is coming up and she’s longing to see him but I’ll put money on him being a no-show.
Should I advise my daughter to cut all ties with this deadbeat dad?

If he got help with his addictions and started to put his children first, you might have some sympathy.
