My husband is praised for doing bare minimum with the kids – Im sick of it

A mum divided opinion when she complained that her husband was receiving praise for doing the "bare minimum".

Emily Benson pointed out she doesn't receive the same treatment when she's in charge of parenting – as it's "expected of mums".

So she called out strangers who complimented her partner for simply doing the weekly food shop.

In the video, which has gained more than 100,000 views online, she explained: "My husband just got home from the grocery store; he took both boys, they're one and two.

"Three people stopped him to tell him what a great dad he was for taking them to the store."

"Do you know how many times I've taken both of my kids to the grocery store, to literally everywhere? A million. How many people have stopped me to say I'm a great mom? Zero."

The Maryland-based mum captioned the clip: "Gold star apparently. #bareminimum."

TikTok users were left divided over the clip as some took to the comments insisting she was overthinking it.

A user commented: "But won't this encourage hubby to take the kids shopping?"

Another wrote: "It's not a competition."

"He seems pretty great to me," a third added.

However, some agreed that mums often go under-appreciated – as one user said: "This happens all the time we got 4 my hubs will take the kids somewhere and baby they always telling him 'Ahhh you are such a good dad'. Really."

A second penned: "Gonna start telling moms they’re great for going to the store with their kids!"

A third added: "You’re a great mom! Sad moms don’t get more appreciation."

Some mums even mums chimed in with the compliments their partners receive on a regular basis including: "Oh my, you have your hands full," "Does he change diapers?'" and "He's such an amazing dad!"
