A ‘nightmare’ holidaymaker who discovered she could have paid £200 less unleashed ‘carnage’ in revenge – tearing her hired caravan to shreds and destroying its contents.

Rob Smith, director of holiday caravan rental company Jar Holidays, rented the vehicle at Lyons Robin Hood Holiday Park in Rhyl, Wales, out to a woman and her partner between July 14 and 21.

However, the 38-year-old claims the holidaymakers were a ‘nightmare’ from the outset, calling for the boiler to be fixed at 1am in the morning and badgering for money off despite being in the caravan already.

When Rob pointed out that it was all already paid and refused any refund, the renter turned ‘malicious’ and trashed the caravan and fled in the night, just four days into their stay.

The company director was horrified when he stepped inside the deserted van the following morning to find that it had been ripped to shreds by the problematic guests.

The caravan was left in quite a state after the lady renting it apparently smashed it up

A lot of detritus and debris was left scattered all over the mobile home after the tear-up

The state of the place it was unlikely anyone would want to rent it out before a big deep clean

Shocking photos shared on Facebook on 19th July show the state of the two-bedroom caravan, with torn up beddings, curtains and a smashed flatscreen TV.

The entire home appears to be covered in dog food, rubbish and what appears to be flour emptied all over the stove, whilst uprooted sofa cushions and broken kitchen utensils cover the floors.

Rob claims that the destructive tenant had even left the shower on full-blast – with the head dangling out the bathroom window.

Rob, who rents out privately-owned caravans to backpackers looking for seaside town getaways, claims that it took the Jar Holidays team six hours to clean up the carnage.

The caravan rental company had to replace everything in sight, including forking out around £1,000 for a new flatscreen TV.

The bed had also been heavily compromised with the stuffing ripped out and green dye thrown

The owners of the caravan saw the damage and remarked it had been let to a bad renter

Rob, from Toxteth, Liverpool, said: ‘Obviously, we’ve rented out to somebody who hasn’t been a good renter.

‘Security walked past the caravan between one and three o’clock in the morning and it was smashed up, but we only got the call in the morning.

‘It’s disgusting because all of the years we’ve been here, we’ve never seen this happen before.

‘She was a nightmare during the stay and after.

‘She booked through a third-party company. She privately messaged us [halfway through the holiday] saying she could have paid £200 less elsewhere [through a different third party company for the holiday] and she wanted her money back.

‘We said that it doesn’t work like that – we’ve already paid the owners.

‘Then she called to ask us to fix the boiler at 1am in the morning, and because we lived on site one of the team went up and switched the boiler back on.

‘After that was when the carnage happened.

‘There were no arguments, there was no explanation – she was just moaning about things that didn’t exist.

James Foley, who does pr at the caravan site, exposed the state of the damage that was done

The caravan is seen here in much happier times looking clean and tidy before the damage

This table looked nice before it was ruined and destroyed by the guest gone wild inside

‘She left between 1am and 3am [that night]. I think she’s just batsh** crazy.

‘We’ve had to replace everything, from replacing the sofa cushions, the curtains and cooker. She put the shower on as well, and left the shower head out the window.

‘Sometimes caravans can get messy, but that is malicious and it’s obviously malicious.

‘It’s just all the damage. There’s liquid damage, she smashed the microwave, the TV – £1,000 is a lot when the owner has put a TV in the room and rented it out to holidaymakers.

‘I was shocked. I felt absolute shock. I thought the best thing to do was to make sure she’s barred.’

Jar Holidays employees have also been left stunned by the horrific act of vandalism, with PR manager James Foley claiming that he found the incident ‘disgusting’.

James, 25, said: ‘When I found out about this the other day, I was absolutely livid.

‘I’ve been going on holidays in North Wales since I was about 10 and I was appalled.

‘All of the bedding was ripped up. It was disgusting. I was absolutely fuming.’

Rob claims that the holiday company has tried to contact the rogue guest multiple times, only to be blocked on all platforms in response

He says that the caravan owners are pressing charges against her.

Now the director is keen to reassure potential vacationers that this was an isolated incident – claiming that he has ‘never seen this happen before’.

Rob said: ‘Within 24 hours, the home is back to normal and we’ve replaced everything – TV, and everything.

‘It’s been replaced personally by our sister company; everything has been done and covered by us.

‘It’s just disgusting because there’s no remorse for it.

‘I don’t know what’s wrong with her. You do not do that to anybody’s property. There’s no reason to do that.

‘She hasn’t sent a comment back to us. I’ve tried to call her several times, I’ve emailed her, and she’s blocked us all on social media.

‘We want people to rest assured that this does not happen [ever]. We’ve been here for ten years and nothing like this has ever happened. It’s just not normal behaviour.’

North Wales Police have confirmed that the incident is currently under investigation.

North Wales Police said: ‘We received a call on 18th July reporting damage to a caravan located at Lyons Robin Hood park in Rhyl.
