Although bingo is usually associated with women, there are plenty of men who love a game!

In fact, it’s reported that during World War One, soldiers started playing “housey-housey” in the trenches to curb boredom.

The game works very similarly to bingo, probably named after the full house call in bingo.

After the war, soldiers returned home and kept playing the game; it was a hit with both men (who were now mostly ex-servicemen) and women.

Fast forward to the present day, many male and female celebrities have come forward as being bonkers for bingo.

Here are the celebs who love to get a full house.

Catherine Zeta-Jones

It’s been reported that Catherine Zeta-Jones’s parents could only afford to send their daughter to dance and ballet lessons after her father won £100,000 in a bingo game.

Zeta-Jones went on to win an Oscar, BAFTA and Tony Award for musical roles.

Apparently, Zeta-Jones has inherited her parents’ love of bingo.

She hosts bingo parties and even has custom-designed cards.

Robbie Williams

Pop icon Robbie Williams marked 25 years as a solo artist this year.

In that time, he’s sold over 75 million records worldwide and won more BRIT awards than any other artist (13 on his own and five with Take That).

Among those many awards have been some impressive bingo wins.

You can see the former Take That member coming out of a bingo hall in the 2002 video for Feel, where eagle-eyed viewers may be able to spot that his score card shows a 1L win.

We wonder how he felt about that!

Robbie also used a bingo hall in the 2005 video for Advertising Space.

The Angels singer entered a charity bingo game at Hamburger Mary’s in Hollywood and won the full house prize of a Diane Merrick leopard print handbag.

The event raised funds for and all proceedings went to a breast cancer charity.

Robbie apparently donated the bag to a charity auction.

In addition to that, the Let Me Entertain You singer joined a bingo game at his local hall in Stoke-on-Trent when he was visiting organisations that had benefited from his charitable foundation Give it Sum.

Sharon Osbourne

The Osbourne matriarch juggles a lot of plates. Sharon Osbourne is a music manager, TV personality and author.

It’s no wonder that she likes to unwind with a game of bingo.

However, she’s not happy just to play bingo, she’s been a bingo ambassador, a bingo caller for charity events and even started her own online bingo website!

Russell Crowe

Before entertaining spectators in the Colosseum, Russell Crowe was entertaining bingo players as a bingo caller!

In fact, he was the Director of Entertainment at the private resort on Pakatoa Island, off the east coast of Auckland.

However, despite the Hollywood actor saying that “when I was a bingo-caller I tried to be the best bingo-caller”, it wasn’t the day job for him.

He was fired from one calling gig for not sticking to the known bingo calls and inserting some more adult rhymes in their place.

Denise van Outen

This proud Essex export is a quadruple threat: a singer, dancer, actress and presenter.

We don’t know how but, despite all of her commitments, Denise van Outen been known to make time for bingo.

DID YOU KNOW THAT THIS LONDON ICON IS THE TALLEST WHEEL IN THE UK?

She’s been spotted a few times at her local Essex bingo club and has even tried taking her former radio co-stars along for a game or two.

Van Outen has previously said that: “You’ll never hear me say theatre is my first love – bingo is”.

Shane Richie

This cheeky EastEnder must feel right at home when it comes to the Cockney rhyming slang bingo calls!

Shane Richie has been in and out of the bingo world for decades.

He was a caller at his local hall, a caller as a bluecoat at Pontins AND the host of Lucky Numbers.

Lucky Numbers was a weekly bingo-based game show on ITV from 1995 to 1997 that was sponsored by The Sun.

Keeping his dabber hand flexible, Shane has been spotted enjoying weekend bingo games with his wife, Christie Goddard.
