The defender will be looking to add to his 29 caps when they get their World Cup campaign underway later this month.

    Barca keeping eye on Arteta

Barcelona officials have held internal discussions regarding the future appointment of Mikel Arteta, according to Sport.

The Spanish outlet suggest that those at the Nou Camp have been impressed with the Arsenal boss, who learnt his trade under the guidance of former Barca great Pep Guardiola.

The 40-year-old is said to be one of a number of candidates shortlisted for the head coach's role down the line.

Gunners fans needn't be too alarmed though; the Catalan giants hope that current boss Xavi will lead them for years to come.

    Reiss gets shirty with fans

After almost two years out of the side, Reiss Nelson's contribution against Nottingham Forest would have surprised most – but that wasn't the case for two football fans.

Fantasy Premier League revealed that two of its nine million players had captained the 22-year-old at the weekend, scoring double points for his performance against Nottingham Forest.

The Gunners winger scored a whopping 19 points after registering two goals and an assist in the 5-0 win.

On discovering the news, Nelson responded in good-natured style, offering to send the two players a shirt for their faith.

    Nelson: I never doubt myself

Arsenal's two-goal hero from the weekend, Reiss Nelson, has revealed that he never had cause for concern despite his long exile from the first team.

The 22-year-old's introduction as a first half substitute for Bukayo Saka on Sunday was his first Premier League appearance since August 2021.

And the winger made the most of the occasion, scoring a quickfire double shortly after the interval as the Gunners romped to a 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Nelson told the Evening Standard: “I’ve never doubted myself at this football club.

“Arsenal is a team that I’ve been at since I was eight years old and I have a very, very strong bond and love for the club.

“Of course, there has been times where I’ve been a bit down when I haven’t played or been on the bench, but my plan has never been for me to leave the club or say that I have no future here – and I will do everything possible to get there.”

    Tomiyasu receives World Cup call

Japan have officially announced their squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, and – unsurprisingly – it includes Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The right-back, who has 29 caps to his name, will join fellow Premier League star Kaoru Mitoma and Celtic's Daizen Maeda in Hajime Moriyasu's group of 22.

Japan campaign begins against Germany on November 23, and they will also face Spain and Costa Rica in Group E.

    Tierney told to be patient

Kieran Tierney has been advised to play the waiting game to ensure he's ready to take his opportunity when it arises.

Those are the calming words of former Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre, who believes the Scot has the right mentality to overcome his current difficulties.

Tierney has started just three Premier League games this season, and has had to instead watch right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu perform in his usual position.

"It’s true that the manager is using options that we wouldn’t guess at the beginning of the season," Silvestre told bettingexpert.

"Ben White at right-back and Tomiyasu at left-back against Salah, for instance."

"There’s a lot of competition. Tierney is a good player so again, it’s not easy to deal with these situations.

"But he also has a very good mentality, he just needs to keep patient and wait for opportunities.

"There will be a lot of games to play."

    Gunners face left-back battle

Arsenal will enter the market for a new left-back in January, report The Express.

The Gunners are aiming to increase their options in the position given Kieran Tierney's injury issues, and the similar problems that have stalled Oleksandr ZInchenko's start to life at the club.

For much of the season, right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu has covered on the opposite flank.

Benfica star Alex Grimaldo has been targeted by the Premier League leaders as a potential signing, but they will face competition.

Barcelona, Juventus and Chelsea are all said to be keeping tabs on the 27-year-old.

    Real in search of Jesus

The stories linking Real Madrid with a summer move for Gabriel Jesus are refusing to go away.

The LaLiga giants were initially interested in prising the striker away from Manchester City, but opted against an approach due to potential passport issues.

However, he is said to be a player that manager Carlo Ancelotti greatly admires, and the Spanish heavyweights may test Arsenal's resolve at the end of the season.

Jesus, who has five goals and seven assists in 16 apps for the Gunners, penned a five-year contract when moving to the Emirates in July.

    Good morning Arsenal fans

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is cautiously optimistic Bukayo Saka will be available for Sunday's clash at Chelsea.

Saka injured his ankle during the 5-0 home win against Nottingham Forest and hobbled off the pitch after 27 minutes.

Arteta said: "It was a bad kick and he was limping, but I don't see it being anything further than that. Let's see how he is in the next couple of days."

Meanwhile, Arsenal are considering making a bid for Orlando City star Facundo Torres.

Torres has impressed in the MLS this season and the Gunners have been made aware of him by scout Toni Lima.

Lima has been credited with recommending Neymar to Barcelona and Philippe Coutinho to Inter Milan when both were still playing in Brazil.

According to The Evening Standard, the winger could be signed to provide competition for Saka.

Since moving to the United States, the Uruguay international has scored 14 goals and registered 10 assists in 40 league matches.

And Arsenal are in talks with William Saliba over a new long-term contract with fears he could walk out for free next summer.

Saliba's deal is due to expire next summer, meaning he could walk out of the Emirates for free.

The Gunners have a 12-month option, but according to The Athletic, the club want to tie the centre-back down to a new long-term contract.

Should the Gunners hit a stumbling block during talks, the France international won't be short of options.

Reports suggest Paris Saint-Germain are keen on the 21-year-old, who loves living in France.

Finally, Arsenal are the frontrunners to sign Leicester star Youri Tielemans, whom they targeted in the summer.

Manchester United and Juventus were also thought to be interested, but the Foxes managed to keep hold of Tielemans.

According to The Mirror, the Gunners are the favourites to seal a deal for the midfielder, whose contract expires at the end of the season

A summer move is thought to be the most likely time for the Belgium international to move to North London.

    Taking the Myk

Shakhtar Donetsk have dealt Arsenal a transfer warning by warning Mykhaylo Mudryk is valued at over £85million.

Shakhtar deputy sporting director Carlo Nicolini told Calciomercato: “Together with Kylian Mbappe, Rafa Leao and Vinicius Jr, Mudryk is the strongest player in his role.

“Is £35m enough to buy him? We don’t speak for these figures, not even for £45m, we don’t even call the president to make the offer.

“We value Mudryk more than United’s Antony – £85m. Floating between Arsenal and Man City? They are two teams that have taken an interest in the player.

“But there are also other clubs than can spend right away. We are not obliged to sell, we do not want to lose phenomena. We don’t want to shoot figures that aren’t realistic.

“But in this team, he is the most decisive. If you want to take on certain players who make a difference in the top clubs, you also need the right money”

    Ozil still welcome at Arsenal

The breakdown in the relationship between Mesut Ozil and the Arsenal management towards the end of the German's time at the Emirates has been overplayed.

"He could never play for another English club, he's not like [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang," Sogut told Tribal Football.

Sogut goes on to insist that while Ozil did depart the Gunners on a sour note, the extent of issues have been embellished, and he remains a welcome guest of the club.
