Arsenal set to seal Gabriel Jesus transfer by launching improved offer for Man City star who wants to join Gunners | The Sun

ARSENAL have submitted a £50million bid for Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus, according to reports.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian this summer.

The Gunners previously bid £30m for Jesus, 25, but are now set to match City's £50m asking price, report The Times.

And the forward is said to be keen on the move to link back up with Mikel Arteta, who he worked with at City.

The Arsenal boss also wanted to reunite with Jesus and made the Brazilian one of his transfer priorities this summer after seeing Alexandre Lacazette leave.

The Gunners were seemingly unwilling to pay £50m to land Jesus previously given he is set to enter the final year of his City contract.

But the striker's agent Marcello Pettinati reportedly arrived in London yesterday to hold transfer talks with Arsenal.

Personal terms are still yet to be agreed but it seems Jesus is heading for the Emirates.

That is a blow for rivals Tottenham and Chelsea who were also in the hunt to sign Jesus.

But his desire to play first-team football means Arsenal were always favourites for his signature.

Arsenal are fighting to keep hold of Eddie Nketiah with his contract expiring and he could be the only striker to rival Jesus for a starting place.

The Gunners will hope to complete the deal to sign Jesus quickly which would allow them to pursue other targets.

Arteta is determined to sign a midfielder this summer with Youri Tielemans believed to be at the top of his shortlist.
