Barcelona confirm Andreas Christensen signing on free transfer after Chelsea exit… and has hefty £430m release clause | The Sun

BARCELONA have confirmed the signing of Andreas Christensen on a free transfer.

The centre-back arrives from Chelsea, having left London after ten years.

And amazingly, his buyout clause has been set at €500million (£430m) after signing a four-year deal.

A statement read: "FC Barcelona and Andreas Bødtker Christensen have reached an agreement for the player to join the Club after his contract with Chelsea FC came to an end.

"The player will sign a contract until 30 June 2026 and his buy out clause will be set at 500 million euros."

The Spanish side also announced the arrival of midfielder Franck Kessie from AC Milan on Monday, as they completed their first and second signings of the summer.

Chelsea announced in early June that Christensen, who started as a youth player in 2012, had left the club.

He was joined out the door by former defensive partner-turned league rival Antonio Rudiger, 29, who has joined Real Madrid.

It has caused Chelsea to go in the market for replacements.

The likes of Matthijs de Ligt, 22, Jules Kounde, 23, and Kalidou Koulibaly, 31, have all been linked.

And so too has former Blues defender Nathan Ake, 27, who is now at Manchester City.

City have no plans to sell a player who joined them for £40million just two years ago.

Newcastle were quoted £50m earlier this summer.

And even if Chelsea bid that much, the Premier League champions would want a replacement first.

But Thomas Tuchel and new owner Todd Boehly are closing in on a deal to sign Raheem Sterling, 27, from City.
