Duncan Ferguson LEAVES vegan club Forest Green after relegation as fans joke 'bet he's eating a sausage roll right now' | The Sun

DUNCAN FERGUSON has left Forest Green Rovers just six months after taking charge after a disagreement over the direction the club were taking.

SunSport understands the Everton legend was unhappy with their new sporting structure with director of football Allan Steele being appointed last month following the team’s relegation from League One.

Rovers had already signed three new players during the transfer window but Ferguson had a different vision in terms of how he believes the club should move forward.

Ferguson took charge with the Gloucestershire side rock bottom in January and only managed one win in 18 as the team crashed straight back down into the fourth tier.

The former Scotland ace had signed a five-year deal and spoke enthusiastically about the club’s rebuilding plans following their relegation.

But owner Dale Vince has decided to part company with his boss after it was clear Ferguson was unhappy with the club's direction of travel.

Vince insists the decision to part company was amicable and said: “It's been a privilege to work with Dunc these last few months and this was a very difficult decision to make.

“I’m grateful to Dunc for joining us in such difficult circumstances and for all of his hard work at the club.

“But I feel this is overall the right decision for everyone and I wish Dunc well in his next coaching role.

"We are parting as friends. You can’t ask for much more than that.”

Ferguson had joined the Everton coaching staff in 2014 and twice acted as caretaker-boss before leaving the club last summer but struggled in his first managerial job.

And fans were quick to see the funny side after Bic Dunc left, as they concluded he was never likely to see eye to eye with owner Vince.

One tweeted: "The moment I saw a pic of Big Dunc and the Forest Green owner with painted finger nails, I knew it wasn’t gonna last long."

Others believed Ferguson would have been unable to adapt to the club's vegan diet.

One tweet read: "He's going to clean out every Greggs meat sausage roll in Gloucestershire."

Another wrote: "Bet he’s eating a sausage roll right now."

And a third tweet read: "Fair he couldn’t take anymore pretending to be a vegan."
