TEMPLEGATE takes on day one of the Doncaster St Leger Festival confident of banging in his fair share of winners – thanks to a legendary jockey making his big return.

SHINE ON BRENDAN (3.00 Doncaster, nap)
He has a true legend in Kieren Fallon on board and he can show them how it's done. Jim Goldie's five-year-old dug deep to score at Hamilton last time and he's best over this distance.
MANACCAN (4.10 Doncaster, nb)
He was just nabbed over 6f in a Listed contest at Newmarket last time and will be much happier dropping to this distance.
He showed lots of pace when winning a hot handicap at Ascot last month and was less than a length away in a big handicap at the Royal meeting. The booking of Ryan Moore for John Ryan's express catches the eye.
MUJTABA (5.20 Doncaster, treble)
He has not been the easiest to get on the track but he won on all three starts last season before being sent off a well-backed favourite for the Lincoln here in March.
He was midfield in that and again at Chester's May meeting. We haven't seen him since then and hopefully the break will have done him good because William Haggas's hope has more than enough talent to be winning at this level.

SOUND OF IONA ran a cracker when a close-up third in a stronger race than this at Ascot at the weekend.
That was her third run of the week that saw her finish second at Windsor and win at the Queen's course, all over this trip.
She seems to be thriving on her racing and can go close again under a penalty before the handicapper gets stuck in.
Treacherous ran a lot better than seventh suggests at Sandown last time, finishing close to the winner. Moving up in distance can help his chances.
Roach Power landed an egg-and-spoon race at Ripon last month before stepping up for a second at Newmarket in strong company. The handicapper has given him a chance.
Intervention is in fine form and followed a Chelmsford success with a solid success over this distance at Yarmouth.
He is best over this trip and has a decent claimer taking off 3lb.
Glorious Rio wasn't stopping when taking a Carlisle contest over 5f. He has no issues with the extra furlong and a 5lb penalty gives him a chance.
Temple Bruer won at Brighton and was unlucky when second to Intervention at Yarmouth. He has run well over this course and distance before.

MODERN DANCER scored on debut over course and distance in June and took a step forward from that despite finishing only second at Yarmouth latest.
His liking for the track is a major plus and there's much more to come from the Buick and Appleby runner.
Connections teamed up to win this race 12 months ago.
Hour By Hour had plenty in hand when winning on handicap debut at Hamilton 12 days ago. That was over 6f but he stays further and looks a major danger.
Indian Dream hasn't done a lot wrong with a couple of good handicap seconds since winning an Epsom maiden in July.
He is creeping up the weights now but stays and a repeat of that Knavesmire effort would give him every chance.
Grey's Monument has shown enough on his three maiden runs to figure on this handicap debut.
He was entitled to need his Ffos Las third 13 days ago coming back from three months off. He's on a fair mark and this longer trip should suit.
Out Of Shadows liked some cut in the ground when scoring on debut at Brighton and was hampered when third at Leicester last time.

Megan Nicholls has only just retired from the saddle and she has solid claims on Nurseclaire. She tried to come from a long way back when sixth here over 7f last time and the extra furlong will help.
Arranmore put in an improved effort when a close second at Ripon last week.
Trainer David O'Meara is in decent form and the first-time blinkers could be a help.
Codify went down in a tight finish at Salisbury over this trip and he went close at Newbury three runs ago. He likes this trip and won't be far away.

ADAAY IN ASIA can transfer her red-hot handicap form to this Group 3 level.
She landed a hat-trick over 6f in good style before stepping up for a smooth success at York.
That was another handicap but it was a hot one on the Knavesmire and she looks well up to this standard given there don't appear to be any superstars in the line-up.
Umm Kulthum has lots of talent and looked destined for the top when winning the Firth Of Clyde at Ayr as a juvenile.
She's had a few training problems since then but did land a good Listed success on comeback at Newmarket in April.
She is upped in distance here and will be a threat if getting home.
Heredia looked a nice prospect as a juvenile with two wins and started this season strongly with a York win followed by the Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot.
She has come up a little short upped in grade since then but this looks easier than her midfield effort at Goodwood last time and it's still early days.
Nectaris was beaten in a head-bobber for a Fairyhouse Group 3 in July before a good effort at the Galway Festival. He wasn't disgraced in France last time and has an each-way chance.

King Of Stars was a creditable third in the Listed Beverley Bullet 11 days ago.
That came after he was beaten in a photo at York. He is best over this trip and looks a big threat for Michael Appleby.
Equilateral takes a drop in grade and he'll enjoy any juice in the ground. He won this race three years ago and is better than we saw at Goodwood last time when he was well held.
Lovely Mana wasn't able to land a blow at Deauville latest when pulling too hard on the front.
William Buick takes over today and will try to settle her better. It's early days so she should be capable of better.
Mo Celita held her own at Group 1 level last season and showed some promise at Newmarket latest with Frankie on board. The Italian could steer her into the frame again.

X J RASCAL has been beaten a neck into second on both his handicap runs, including here last time out.
He sees out 7f well so this move up to a mile should hold no fears. He doesn't need much more to win for the first time since his Brighton debut in June.
Impulsive Reaction was closer than seventh place suggests here last time on the back of a good third at York and a Musselburgh maiden win.
The handicapper has been fair with his mark and there's more to come from the Tim Easterby runner.
Maximilian Caesar showed his liking for a mile when third at Windsor and hasn't been clobbered for this handicap debut.
Monty Man went close at Beverley before a decent effort on the all-weather at Newcastle. He isn't the quickest but will be running on at the finish.

The Queen's four-year-old likes this trip and the handicapper has given him a little nudge down the weights.
Isla Kai has been well backed for some hot contests this summer and has run with credit at York and Ascot.
He has run well here before and he'll figure if getting home over this longer trip.
Legend Of Dubai has been struggling a bit with big weights since winning at Newmarket in April.
He's had a little help on that front and was a good second the last time he ran here.
