Man Utd ‘enquire about Brentford star to solve left-back woes as part of FOUR-MAN shortlist as transfer deadline nears' | The Sun

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly enquired about Brentford star Rico Henry.

The Red Devils are in the market for a new left-back after Luke Shaw was ruled out with a muscle injury.

Erik ten Hag's side have had an unconvincing start to the season despite winning two of their opening three games.

Man United scraped wins over Wolves and Nottingham Forest but lost to Tottenham.

The hunt for a new left-back has seen four names be put on the club's transfer shortlist.

The Daily Mail have reported that Henry, Chelsea's Marc Cucurella, Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon and Barcelona's Marcos Alonso are under consideration.

The report claims that the Red Devils have even put an enquiry in for Henry.

It suggests that "initial checks" have been made with Brentford over the full-back's availability.

The 26-year-old has become a quality Premier League left-back since the Bees' promotion from the Championship.

However, it is thought that a deal for Henry would not be cheap as he is contracted to the London club until 2026.

Meanwhile, it has also been claimed that United have also lined up a loan move for Cucurella.

The Spaniard joined Chelsea last summer from Brighton and Hove Albion but has not hit the heights that he showed on the South Coast.

Manchester United have already signed three players this summer, with Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlung arriving.

A move for a left-back could hamper Tyrell Malacia's chances at Old Trafford.

The Dutch defender was signed last summer but is yet to cement himself in the first team.
