Mario Balotelli offered chance to resurrect career with free transfer to FC Sion after leaving Adana Demirspor | The Sun

MARIO Balotelli has been offered the chance to sink his teeth into a Swiss role… by joining FC Sion.

The former Manchester City and Liverpool striker spent last season with Turkish club Adana Demirspor.

But Swiss Super League outfit Sion have launched a charm offensive to land Italy international Balotelli.

Club chairman Christian Constantin recently visited the 31-year-old at his home in Brescia.

As reported by Lematin.ch and Blick.ch, Constantin said: "We have been in talks with Balotelli for several weeks. He is an endearing guy.

"He is also a much-changed player. Had he had his current mindset 10 years ago, he'd have won the Ballon d'Or several times.

"I don't yet know what the chances are of him joining us, but we are still working on the case.

"Demirspor are prepared to open the door for him to leave.

"Emotions, more than money, could convince him to move to Sion.

"If I can get Balotelli, that will change the scope of the team. His presence could enable me to wrap up other signings."

Constantin tried to lure Balotelli from Liverpool to Sion in 2016 before the striker opted instead for French club Nice.

Constantin's son Barthelemy, Sion's sporting director, added: "Balotelli is under contract in Turkey.

"But we are in constant contact with his agents. We are on good terms with them after doing some other deals in the past.

"To repeat, Mario has a contract with Demirspor.

"But if we have to make contact with his current club, then contact will be made."

Balotelli revived his ailing career with the Super Lig club, scoring 19 goals in 33 games last season.
