A NON-LEAGUE football chairman has offered to give the club away for FREE.

AFC Dunstable, who play in the Southern League Division One Central, are on the lookout for someone to take over the club.

And whoever does come in at the step four Non-league side will have it "gifted" to them "debt free".

Current chairman Simon Bullard is stepping down at the end of the season.

He has been chairman of the Bedfordshire club for almost 30 years, according to Bedfordshire Live.

But Bullard will hand over the reigns to someone who "proves that they have the ability" to operate the club, and he won't charge them a penny.

A club statement revealed: "We have a vacancy for a Chairperson.

"We can confirm that the Club (consisting of the playing side & related elements) will be gifted debt free, to anybody/organisation/consortium, which proves that they have the ability and resource/finances to run a team/club at the level which we are."

Bullard reportedly first joined AFC Dunstable in 1991 as a player, and also spent a short time as manager, before taking over as chairman in 1994.

In an emotional statement, Bullard revealed: "Leaving the club has been a huge decision, but it's one I have had to make for me and my family.

"The club is in great shape, the first team are riding high near the top end of the table, so now feels like the right time to make that move.

"I will forever be proud of the time I spent at AFC and made so many brilliant memories. Including, the first team winning the Spartan South Midlands Division and being promoted to the Southern League.

"These memories will live with me forever and I thank everyone that has been a part of my AFC journey over the last 30 years."

AFC Dunstable are currently eighth in the Southern League Division One Central.
