22 Kids Radford family feud over frozen pies led to kids not speaking for 18 months

22 Kids & Counting star Sue Radford revealed two of her children have not spoken for nearly 18 months after a fallout over frozen pies.

The 48 year old matriarch of Britain’s biggest family – stars of the Channel 5 reality show – has turned to a trained intervention counsellor in a bid to get siblings Chloe, 28, and Luke, 23, talking again. She told how the pair fell out over a shelf of frozen pies at the family’s bakery and a huge row erupted.

The fallout is set to be a major storyline in the Radfords' TV special – 22 Kids and Counting at Christmas – which airs this Sunday. And Sue has told how the strong-willed pair have refused to back down and are still at loggerheads.

Sue told the Mirror: “To see them not speaking has been really, really hard. Especially as when we look back over the years and see how close Luke and Chloe were. But they are both very strong willed and stubborn.”

Her husband, Noel, 52, added: "The longer it goes on, the harder it gets. There has been no backing down first. It’s not nice to see them not talking to each other."

The feud comes after the family, who live in Morecambe, was rocked by another fallout between Sue and daughter Millie. That started in April following a social media post about a family trip to Disneyland in Florida.

Millie took to Instagram Stories to respond to a clip mum Sue had shared of her and Noel surprising some of their grandchildren with the holiday. Writing over a screenshot of the footage, Millie said: "Cute? But you've made money from all your grandchildren but choose your favourites. Said my piece."

However, the falling out was not a serious one – as Millie later asked her mum to be one of her birthing partners when she gave birth to daughter Elodie-Jade.

Sue and Noel have been married for more than 30 years and are parents to Chris, 34, Sophie, 29, Chloe, 28, Jack, 26, Daniel, 24, Luke, 23, Millie, 22, Katie, 21, James, 20, Ellie, 18, Aimee, 17, Josh, 16, Max, 14, Tillie, 13, Oscar, 12, Casper, 11, Hallie, eight, Phoebe, seven, Archie, six, Bonnie, Five and Heidie, three. Sadly, the couple’s 17th child, Alfie, was stillborn in July 2014.

With so many mouths to feed, Sue told how she normally starts planning for Christmas Day in October. The food bill for the big day comes to just under £500, she said, and for the main meal they will get through two turkeys, 60 pigs in blankets, 3kg of Brussel sprouts, 7.5kg of potatoes, 4kg carrots and 60 Yorkshire puddings. For afterwards, they will have four Christmas puddings, 48 mince pies and one yule log – as well as two tubs of family chocolates – and for drinks they will have 16 litres of fizzy pop and two bottles of cream liqueur.

Organising gifts for 22 children and ten grandchildren is taxing too – so Sue builds a Christmas grotto in the family home and each of the children are invited to write down on a blackboard what is on their wish list for Santa.

“It’s been amazing and the kids have loved coming in saying what they wanted for Santa,” she said.
