BBC Strictly ‘fix’ row emerges as fans ‘expose’ reason Angela Rippon was saved

Strictly Come Dancing fans are claiming Angela Rippon’s win in the dance-off on Sunday was “fixed” by producers.

Angela, 79, used to host Come Dancing back in 1988 which was the predecessor to Strictly Come Dancing.

The programme was filmed in Blackpool, the home of ballroom dancing, and viewers are suspicious producers want to get Angela through to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom stage of the competition.

It comes after viewers slammed bosses after Angela was saved over soap star Adam Thomas and his professional partner Luba Mushtuk during the latest dance-off.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, John King penned: “Just saw the Strictly Come Dancing results show tonight, and I smell a fix – all four judges saved Angela Rippon, who was by far the weakest contestant this week.

“Why did they save her? Two reasons – her age, and that she used to host the original Come Dancing.”

Karrie shared: “Adam was robbed last night and guess what? Viewers aren’t buying the results ‘fix’ just to keep Angela Rippon in for the tour #ObviousFix.”

Lou fumed: “What an absolute fix? Travesty?? @bbcstrictly the judges saved Angela Rippon? Just so the old lady can get to Blackpool. Not right!” (sic)

Ian Mac said: “Adam and Luba could have danced like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers on Strictly. They still wouldn’t have won against judges’ favourites Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington. Mrs Mac thinks it’s a fix. I couldn’t possibly comment!”

Meanwhile, Bethany shared: “While admiring and being generally pleasantly surprised by Angela Rippon on Strictly and in awe of what she has been able to achieve at her age, I do feel that her routines are too safe and more of the same. Hope she gets better at taking criticism well as well.”

Ronan remarked: “I really enjoy seeing Angela Rippon dancing with Kai, they both feel like being in Paris France.”

Speaking about his exit on the Strictly spin-off series It Takes Two, Adam said: “I knew going up against Angela we’d be in trouble … but if anyone was going to send us home I’m happy it was Angela – she’s amazing.”

Coronation Street star Ellie Leach and her partner Vito Coppola topped the leaderboard last weekend with their slick American Smooth.

The duo scored an impressive 39 points out of 40 from the judges – will they be able to get 40 points this weekend?

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday night on BBC One.
