BEST Interests is a gripping BBC drama about a family driven apart by having to make choices no parent would ever want to make.

The four-part series is lead by Sharon Horgan and Michael Sheen, who are joined by an incredible cast.

When is Best Interests released on BBC?

Best Interests kicks off tonight (June 12, 2023) at 9pm on BBC One.

The second episode will then air tomorrow (June 13, 2023) at the same time.

The third and fourth episodes will be on BBC the following week, airing on Monday, June 19, 2023, and Tuesday, June 20, 2023, also at 9pm.

Who is in the cast of Best Interests?

Sharon Horgan as Nicci

Sharon Horgan plays Nicci, a mother drawn into a legal battle over her daughter’s right to die.

The actress is best known for her comedic performances in series like Catastrophe, This Way Up, and Bad Sisters.

But fans may also recognise her from the movie roles, which includes Military Wives, and Man Up.

Michael Sheen as Andrew

Hollywood actor Michael Sheen plays Andrew, Nicci’s husband and Marnie’s father.

Niamh Moriarty plays Marnie, the child at the centre of the legal case.

Best Interests is the actress' most high-profile role to date, but you might also recognise her from the short film My Mother’s Shoes.

She also starred in Jack Thorne’s adaptation of A Christmas Carol.

What is the Best Interests plot?

The emotional series captures the lives of married couple Nicci and Andrew whose daughter named Marnie has a life-threatening condition.

However, it follows the story of a dispute between Marnie's parents and the doctors who are caring for her, as the health professionals believe it is in the child’s “best interests” to be allowed to die.

Contrastingly, Nicci and Andrew disagree which leads to a legal battle as they struggle to understand the decision.

Filming for Best Interests took place over summer 2022.
