CBS’ hit procedural drama Blue Bloods could have a major storyline on the way for Detective Abigail Baker (played by Abigail Hawk). As her season 11 assault will be revisited, this could be too much for the officer who may decide to leave the precinct behind.

During the season 11 episode, Happy Ending, Abigail became the victim of a brutal attack after she had picked up groceries.

The assailant jumped her and took off with her handbag. Although she had survived the attack, she was close to leaving her job.

Abigail had sustained injuries while she fought off the attacker and tried to shoot him, but her vision blurred as she reached for her gun.

The investigation revealed she was close to leaving One Police Plaza but decided to stay after realising how determined Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) was to nail the assailant.

Despite this, it could all get too much for the detective as her attacker could seemingly gain freedom this season.

Abigail will be the focus of next week’s episode as the log line reads: “Conflict arises between Erin and the Dream Team when the D.A.’s office strikes a deal with Baker’s assailant.”

This will undoubtedly be a tough episode for Abigail if her attacker gains freedom as she was determined to keep him behind bars.

It’s also unlikely that Erin will allow this to happen without a dispute, because she knows how much her father, Frank cares for Abigail.

As well as being a detective, Abigail is also the primary aide to the commissioner and as Frank is the NYC police commissioner, she was responsible for all his meetings.

She would prepare and access Frank’s official schedule, which meant people would have to speak to her before they could set up a meeting with the commissioner.

Therefore, no one is able to speak or meet with Commissioner Reagan without her approval.

As this had been the case since her first appearance in season one, she had proved her loyalty and gained a place in Frank’s inner advisory circle.

As a result, Frank vowed to catch the assailant when she was in the hospital and was surprised to see Abigail in the office the following day.

Although he allowed her to stay, he warned her to stop hounding the detective on her case and reminded her she was the victim, even though she didn’t want to be treated as one.

However, she wasn’t pleased with the progress of the case and told Frank: “You told me that if I felt I needed to move on, you wouldn’t stand in my way.”

Abigail left Frank stunned as she confirmed: “It’s time.”

Her independent investigation paired with Garrett Moore’s (Gregory Jbara) detective work helped finally nail the attacker.

Garrett had found surveillance footage and Abigail was able to point him out in a police line-up.

Abigail was able to gain satisfaction as she was afforded the opportunity to arrest him.

However, this could all be stripped away if he will strike a deal with the D A Kimberly Crawford (Roslyn Ruff) and gain freedom.

Blue Bloods season 13 continues Fridays on CBS in the US. A UK release date has yet to be announced.
