Strictly Come Dancing star Bobby Brazier has already developed a ‘deep connection’ with his partner Dianne Buswell, according to a body language expert.
The close bond between the EasterEnders actor, 20, and the pro dancer, 34, can be seen through their ‘tactile gestures’, ‘eye contact’ and the ‘genuine smiles’ they share, Darren Stanton said. Bobby, who won a National Television Award for his portrayal of Freddie Slater on the BBC One soap, emerged as the early favourite to scoop the coveted Strictly Glitterball trophy.
The young actor left his proud dad Jeff Brazier in tears with his first routine, a foxtrot, on the popular celebrity dance contest on Saturday night – while also impressing the judges. And, with Bobby set to take on the Charleston with Dianne this weekend, body language expert Darren has taken a close look at the initial chemistry between the pair.
Speaking on behalf of Betfair Bingo, he said: “Bobby has a lot of confidence and energy on the dance floor. You can tell he is loving every second of it. He's also very open to feedback and I can tell he wants to do the best he can. He has a drive to really go far.
“Bobby and Dianne have a really deep connection already, which is shown through tactile gestures and eye contact. I can also see a lot of genuine smiles between them.”
Meanwhile, Darren said that Nigel Harman and partner Katya Jones were proving to be ‘one of the strongest couples in the competition’. Angela Scanlon, on the other hand, ‘didn’t seem to be on the same wavelength’ as professional dancer Carlos Gu, the expert claimed.
Darren went on: “Nigel definitely has a great bond with Katya – the degree to which someone is willing to give over control to their partner instructing them is a clear indicator of how far they will go on a show like Strictly. The ones that are the most humble and go in there without any prior expectation seem to fare the best
“Nigel and Katya are tactile with each other, their eye contact is great. In terms of sheer determination, Nigel is a serious contender.”
Darren added that he was “not convinced” by Angel and Carlos’ connection. “Angela doesn't seem to be on the same wavelength as Carlos – their energies weren't reciprocated,” he said.
“There's a lot of development to be made with their chemistry. I am aware it is early in the competition, but Angela and Carlos just aren't on the same wavelength with each other emotionally.
"Their movements weren't mirrored in the routine, and there was barely any eye contact. They didn’t appear to reciprocate each other with the same energy. It was a very professional performance but lacked enthusiasm.”
Earlier this week, Bobby, who was just five when his mum Jade Goody died on Mother's Day, 2009, following a battle with cervical cancer, admitted that he had never watched Strictly before – blaming it on his 44 year old dad Jeff.
