Britains Got Talent final descends into chaos as judge Simon Cowell loses his voice

The Britain's Got Talent final descended into chaos after Simon Cowell was momentarily silenced after appearing to get something stuck in his throat.

Following Amy Lou Smith's performance, which saw her sing the song Reflection from Mulan, show hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly went to Simon for feedback, when he appeared to have something stuck in his throat and could barely speak.

And as Bruno Tonioli stepped in to be the first to give feedback, Amanda Holden could be seen rubbing Simon's back as she told Ant and Dec: "He's got something caught in his throat!"

After Bruno, Amanda, and Alesha Dixon gave their thoughts on the performance, Ant and Dec went back to Simon, who told them: "I’m having trouble speaking" as he instead asked to hear from Amy Lou about what winning would mean.

Fans at home were quick to comment on the moment, with one tweeting: "What's wrong with Simon's throat #BritainsGotTalent #BGT #BGT2023"

While another added: "I guess that’s one way off not having to comment. On a serious note hope Simon is ok #BritainsGotTalent #BGT2023"

Thankfully, Simon regained his voice later in the show and was able to continue giving feedback.

It comes after fans were left divided over the judge's choice for their 'wildcard' finalist, with comedian Tonikaku appearing on stage as a surprise in the opening moments of the show, despite having lost out on a place in the final in the public vote.

This meant that Tonikaku would be joining finalists Musa Motha, Amy Lou, Viggo Venn, Olivia Lynes, Ghetto Kids, Travis George, Malakai Bayoh, Duo Odyssey, Cillian O'Connor and Lillianna Clifton, in competing to be crowned show winner.

Fans had previously claimed that Tonikaku was "robbed" in missing out a spot in the final, although, it appears that some may have changed their mind.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: "Tonikaku was funny but should not have been the wildcard. Many more deserving acts #bgt"

"Out of all the acts they could’ve chosen as the Wildcard, they chose Tonikaku?!!!!!!! #BGT" argued a second.

However, others took to social media to celebrate the wildcard choice, as one fan tweeted: "So happy #ToniKaku wildcard #BGT #BGT2023 #ItsokImWearingPants."

While another added: "Actually love that Tonikaku is the wild card! Haha #BGT."

Explaining the choice for bringing Tonikaku back, Simon said: "Look, it was unanimous. We just had to have him, it wouldn't have been the same without him!"
