Casualty’s Nigel Harman says ‘my time is done’ and won’t return after Strictly

Former EastEnders star Nigel Harman will join Strictly Come Dancing

Casualty fans are set to be left heartbroken as Max Cristie’s, played by Nigel Harman, storyline will come to an end just eight months after his first arrival.

When he first arrived at Holby City Hospital he was reunited with an old friend Dylan Keogh (played by William Beck )and his estranged daughter Jodie.

The former EastEnders actor is soon set to take to the dancefloor of Strictly Come Dancing and compete for the chance to with the Glitterball Trophy.

Actor Nigel Harman has revealed that he has no plans to return to the BBC drama when his Strictly stint ends.

His character will remain on screen for a few more months, with Nigel admitting that his time on the show is “done for the time being”.

Nigel told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “My time on Casualty is done for the time being. There are no plans for me to go back at the moment.”

It is not known how Max’s exit will play out, but it can be seen fans will be devastated at his departure after quickly becoming a fan favourite.

An insider claimed: “Nigel is so popular – getting him on board was such a coup. A lot of viewers have been tuning in just to see him. This news will be heartbreaking for a lot of viewers.”

Whilst his character is still on screen for a couple of months, viewers will still be able to see Nigel as he dances his way through the Strictly competition.

After he was announced as the 13th star to join Strictly, Nigel said: “I’m amazed, excited, and terrified to be doing Strictly.

“As an armchair fan of the show I have watched in awe as people have twirled and gyrated across the screen. And now it’s my turn…..gulp!”

He recently opened up about some advice he received from former co-star Charles Venn, who played Ray Dixon in EastEnders and previously took part in Strictly.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on ITV, Nigel said: “Charles Venn took me aside and he went really serious. He said, ‘You’ve got to do cardio at the gym. Cardio, cardio.’ I thought, ‘Oh my God’.”

The celebrities taking part in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing are, Angela Rippon, Amanda Abbington, Layton Williams, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Eddie Kadi, Angela Scanlon, Zara McDermott, Adam Thomas, Nikita Kanda, Ellie Leach, Jody Cundy, Bobby Brazier, Nigel Harman, Annabel Croft and Les Dennis.

Casualty airs Saturday from 8:10pm on BBC One.
