Channel 4 News was thrown into chaos after weatherman Liam Dutton was cut off while in the middle of his forecast in an awkward live television blunder.

The channel’s news bulletin was coming towards an end at 7pm on Wednesday night, as Liam waited to go live. Liam began his weather forecast as he normally does, but things soon went wrong when he suddenly froze.

Giving viewers the latest forecast, he expressed: “There will be a few patches of freezing fog for Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia…

“But a cold night with widespread frost, temperatures below freezing, and risk of a few…” The forecast was suddenly brought to an untimely end as the screen and Liam froze before he could say anything else.

Somebody off-screen could be heard in the distance saying: “Somebody has just opened the door.” Wales native Liam seemed confused as to what was going on before producers pulled the segment altogether.

Eagled-eyed viewers rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to point out the blunder and try to find out what had actually happened.

One fan said: “Bit of a cliffhanger on Channel 4 weather tonight…,” while another wrote: “Who opened the door on Liam doing the Channel 4 News weather?”

A third person added: “Very odd end to the Channel 4 news weather?,” and a fourth person asked: “What happened with the weather on Channel 4 news weather?”

Liam also took to social media to clear up the confusion himself and assure his fans that he was fine and there wasn’t a need to worry.

He said on X, “Hi everyone, thanks for asking, but no need to worry, I’m fine. The wrong take of the pre-recorded weather was aired.” Addressing the funny comment about who opened the door, he continued: “Who was at the door shall remain a mystery.

“In the meantime, here’s what you should have seen,” as he posted the actual weather report that was supposed to be aired instead. Relieved fans took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the clarification, with one joking: “Someone needs to edit the end with the EastEnders duff duffs.”

Another said: “Just watched on +1 and was convinced you were being kidnapped. So glad you’re grand.”

Channel 4 airs its evening news bulletin at 7pm every night.
