Susanna Reid ridicules Nigel Farage claiming he’s ‘desperate’ to become PM

Susanna Reid says Farage is desperate to become PM

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid ripped into former UKIP leader Nigel Farage on the latest instalment of the ITV news programme.

She said: “Nigel Farage addressed the rumours that he may at some stage be elected leader of the Conservative Party and may in fact stand in a general election as leader of the party and become Prime Minister.

“He was not quick to rule it out – let’s have a look.”

Good Morning Britain aired a clip from Wednesday night’s episode of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! where Nigel was speaking to EastEnders’ star Danielle Harold in camp.

Danielle asked him: “Would you ever want to run?” Nigel replied: “Oh, I don’t know, we will see. Depends how much mess the country gets in.”

He started to laugh and added: “I honestly don’t know – it’s not an easy job.”

Cutting to a clip from the Bush Telegraph, Nigel told the cameras: “As for little me, there is a lot of speculation that after they lose the next election, ‘Oh maybe Nigel becomes the leader of the Tory Party one day.’

“So there is a lot of chatter about it, whether it is going to happen, I have no idea. The important thing though is to say this – never say never!”

Susanna couldn’t resist mocking Nigel’s comments, telling ITV viewers: “I mean honestly Nigel, don’t be so disingenuous, you’re desperate to stand for Prime Minister.

“What’s all this, ‘I don’t know, I don’t know’? That’s what he’s into for!”

During last night’s episode, Nigel locked horns with YouTuber Nella Rose over immigration.

“Let’s get everything out in the open,” Nella, who was born in Belgium, began. “All the tea is coming out now… apparently you’re anti-immigrants?”

As she probed him on his stance on immigration, he replied: “You can disagree with somebody, but to chuck around accusations the way they’ve been chucked around is grossly unfair.”

As it stands, Nigel’s odds of winning I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! are at 8/1.

A statement from Bettingodds.com said: “I’m A Celeb loves a controversial politician and they have just that in Nigel Farage.

“Mr Brexit is no stranger to upsetting the odds, but while he was initially out at 20/1 to win the show, he’s already been fired into contention at 8/1.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
