Chloe Madeleys ITV show at risk of axe after split from James Haskell

The future of Chloe Madeley and James Haskell's fly-on-the wall reality show is reportedly "hanging in the balance" after the couple confirmed they've split up.

Chloe, 36, said in her shock statement on Sunday 29 October that the couple planned to keep the news under wraps until Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair had finished airing, but the speculation surrounding the state of their five-year marriage "forced our hand".

The personal trainer – who is the daughter of television's Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan – said the couple would continue to co-parent one-year-old daughter Bodhi and wouldn't be making any further statements.

“James and I mutually decided separate at the end of September, 2023," she wrote on her Instagram post.

She continued: “We had not planned on releasing a statement at this time – certainly not while the television show was airing – but constant speculation about our marriage has, unfortunately, forced our hand.

“Beyond this statement, we will not be speaking about this matter publicly, and we would request privacy at this time. Our sole focus now is our beautiful daughter. We shall continue to co-parent with nothing but love.”

With plans for a second series of their hit show now up in the air, The Sun reports that ITV bosses haven't made any decisions about future series.

The newspaper quoted a telly insider as saying: "Now it seems there won't be a decision made about the programme's future while it's still airing, it's all rather hanging in the balance at the moment."

Despite the announcement coming as a shock to the show's viewers, their on-screen rows and speculation following photographs of James chatting to a mystery blonde set tongues wagging.

Amid reports that Chloe's presenter dad Richard, 67, planned to "have words" with James, 38, Chloe was also spotted without her wedding ring on a night out with pals.

At the time, a source told OK!: “Chloe is a very headstrong person and she knows her own mind. She’s very upset and also furious with James. She has got her mum’s stubborn streak so she won’t be walked over.”

Cracks in their union were visible for all to see in their reality show, with cameras capturing a number of tense moments between the pair.

During a disagreement about recording their new podcast, Chloe appeared frustrated at her husband's lack of commitment.

She told the cameras: "Classic. James has not prepared anything for the podcast he insisted we do so obviously it all falls down to me and I'm quite nervous about this now."

Following the tense exchange between the couple, James said Chloe treated him "like a dog" before storming out of the room.

"She [Chloe] shushes me like I'm a dog or like I'm a baby. I'm like 'shush me again and that's the last thing you'll ever do," he said.
