A funeral is bad enough. A funeral of someone you used to love and are now accused of killing is even worse.

But Coronation Street’s Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) is going to get yet another setback.

Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) is forced to tell her that he has been questioned by the police, who are more convinced of Toyah’s guilt than ever.

Toyah reels as she learns that Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) has implied her involvement by telling detectives that Toyah made a threat to kill Imran.

While Toyah concedes this, she tells Peter that this was a figure of speech – she did not kill Imran.

But things are not going her way – and soon she is facing the cops again, as she has something to say…

‘This is going to carry on for quite a few months, so it’s not all going to be tied up,’ Georgia warned Metro.co.uk when we caught up with her on the red carpet of the British Soap Awards.

‘So the ghost of Imran lives on in the storyline!’

And she admits that there has been a mixed response from viewers – as Imran went from hero to villain fairly quickly in the lead up to his violent demise.

‘I guess when it was pitched to us a while ago it was gonna be sort of a quite ambiguous in terms of where the audience’s loyalty would lie, between Imran and Toyah

‘But people were saying online that they hate Imran!’

Charlie smiled: ‘Certainly at the end, the fact that people weren’t singing “ding dong the witch is dead” as I lay in the street, people seemed genuinely quite moved by the whole thing.’
