Coronation Street fans are convinced Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) and Aggie Bailey (Lorna Laidlaw) are set for a steamy affair.

The pair have been growing close in recent weeks as the Street Cars worker confided in the nurse over his heart problems.

He also also opened up about his martial difficulties with wife Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) and troubles in the bedroom.

In recent scenes, Tim was meant to play in the Rovers Return vs Flying Horse charity match.

However, as Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harskishin) gave a pre-match pep talk he thought he was making a dig at his impotence.

Accusing his pal Peter Barlow(Chris Gascoyne) of betraying his confidence, Tim stormed out leaving Weatherfield County footballer and Aggie's son James Bailey (Nathan Graham) with no choice but to step in.

As they set off, Aggie spotted a glum Tim and invited him in for a brew and they got catching over a cuppa as the match kicked off.

While the players gave it their all, Tim unburdened himself and the pair were last seen sniggering over Tim's double entendre about "rising" as Aggie whipped up a cake.

There was horror at the match as suddenly James collapsed and he was taken to hospital.

Aggie looked guilty as her family quizzed her on her whereabouts as she arrives to see her son.

Fans of the ITV soap quickly took to Twitter to wonder if Aggie and Tim would soon embark on a secret romance.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Are we gonna end up seeing a Tim and Aggie affair?"

Another added: "I hope #Corrie ain't gonna have Tim and Aggie having an affair."

A third person posted: "Is Aggie having some kind of non-affair with Tim?"

While a fourth social media user said: "Everytime I see Aggie and Tim in a scene I can't help but think some affair is coming."

The worried mum looked even more riddle with guilt as she was told James had been "dead for five minutes".

During Thursday's (September 15) episode, James returned home and waited patiently for a chat with Weatherfield County manager.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV at 8pm
