There was trouble afoot in Weatherfield during Thursday’s visit to Coronation Street, as Tyrone Dobbs heartbreakingly fell for his mother Cassie’s lies.
As regular viewers will know, drug addict Cassie recently returned into Tyrone’s life after previously having believed to be dead, with her arrival causing more than a fair amount of friction between Tyrone and his gran Evelyn.
At the start of the episode on Thursday, 7 Septemer, and following Cassie’s drug relapse, Tyrone confessed to his gran that handling Cassie’s addiction was far from easy and he confessed he was starting to see just how difficult things must have been for Evelyn to have cut ties with her daughter all those years ago.
However things soon took a turn for the worst as the episode progressed, when Tyrone was invited to attend a support group alongside his mum in the hope of her kicking her drug habit.
At the support group, Cassie lied to the group, telling them how her mum Evelyn had kicked her out, leading her to turn to prostitution in order to fund her drug habit.
Shocked by the revelation, Tyrone was heartbroken and soon asserted that that he was disgusted with Evelyn for turning her back on her own daughter and admitted he intended to have it out with her.
Knowing that the whole truth would rumble her lies, Cassie begged Tyrone not to tell Evelyn about her prostitution – something he agreed to do.
However that didn’t stop him from confronting Evelyn anyway, as he dropped the bombshell that Cassie would be moving into No.9 alongside him and daughters Ruby and Hope.
Horrified by how welcoming her grandson was being to a danger like Cassie, Evelyn boldly claimed that she should probably move out as they were never going to see eye to eye, something Tyrone agreed with.
Wounded by his reaction, Evelyn packed up her bags and was forced to move out, leaving Cassie behind to continue dropping poison in her estranged son’s ear.
Fans at home were quick to share their thoughts as the scenes unfolded, with many shocked at how easily Tyrone had dismissed his grandmother for a pack of lies fed to him by his junkie mum.
One fan wrote: "Cassie telling porky pies – no wonder Tyrone is buying it."
A second then added: "Cassie is definitely giving Ty only half the story, right? Evelyn has done loads to help Cassie, as Cassie herself admitted Evelyn spent time around Christmas with her."
Before a third commented: "Can we move on from Tyrone blaming Evelyn and immediately believing Cassie's side of everything and see Kind Uncle Stephen and Jenny at the Eiffel Tower?"
A fourth fan even weighed in adding: "Justice for Evelyn! She deserves so much better then Cassie as a daughter. Evelyn tried to help her."
