EastEnders airs special flashforward scene for Christmas 2023
EastEnders fans have given their verdict after they spotted a key Christmas Day clue, which will lead to a whodunit murder mystery.
An episode in February treated viewers to a scene that transported them through time to Christmas 2023, showing an explosive teaser that someone is going to be murdered.
However, some eagle-eyed viewers have spotted another huge clue involving Kathy Beale (played by Gillian Taylforth).
The flashforward scene shows a glimpse of Denise Fox (Diane Parish), Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), Linda Carter (Kelly Bright), Kathy Beale, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), and Suki Kaur Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) locked in a pub with a dead body.
It also shows Kathy wearing a purple dress, and in the latest episode, she is wearing a white blouse with a purple print.
Fans now believe that this could be a hint that Kathy is potentially the killer, or that someone close to her could be dying.
Kathy also said: “There’ll be murders before Christmas,” which could be hinting that Kathy could murder someone or a member of the Beale family is going to die.
One person who flocked to X, formally known as Twitter, said: “That line from Kathy. Possible foreshadowing?? #EastEnders.”
A second chimed in: “There would be murders at Christmas you say Kathy #EastEnders.”
A third typed: “Ooo ‘they’ll be murders before Xmas’… #Kathy #TheSix #EastEnders.” A fourth also said: “They’ll be murders before Xmas” Kathy foreshadowing the future.” (sic)
Meanwhile, the major fan theory that everyone is talking about is who Sharon will be marrying. In the flash-forward scene, the character is seen standing over a dead body whilst wearing a white wedding dress.
In the scene, Sharon tests the pulse of the murder victim before announcing: “He’s dead.”
Sharon was originally set to walk down the aisle with Keanu Taylor (played by Danny Walters), however the pair have called off their engagement over her involvement in helping Lisa Fowler flee the country.
However, the duo have been on and off for years, so there is every possibility that Keanu could be the groom on Christmas Day.
EastEnders fans will have to wait until Christmas Day 2023 to find out the identity of the murder victim.
EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One.
