EastEnders fans in stitches at ‘awful’ Photoshop as soap teases villain’s return

EastEnders fans were left in stitches at the show's "awful" Photoshop error in Monday night's episode.

The episode on February 20 saw Linda Carter's world rocked completely after she received a photo from Carly Wicks, showing a photo of Shirley Carter with Dean Wicks.

In December, Shirley left Albert Square in a highly emotional state following her brother Mick Carter's disappearance, going to stay with her daughter Carly.

In the episode, Linda was left devastated when she discovered that Shirley has also been in contact with her evil son Dean, after he viciously raped her in a harrowing storyline back in 2014.

However, all fans could really focus on was the terrible editing of the photo as it was briefly shown on camera.

"I'm sorry but that photo of Dean being photoshopped in the mirror has made me cackle," one wrote on Twitter.

Another joked: "Obsessed with how they've edited Dean into the mirror pic," complete with laughing emojis.

"The stock image of Dean being so poorly photoshopped into that photo was the funniest moment of 2023 so far," claimed one fan, while another tweeted: "I can't tell you how obsessed I am with this photoshop."

"That photoshopping of Dean – I'm cackling," laughed another, while one fan went even further: "Omg that's an awful photoshop job someone needs to be fired."

The revelation was part of a much-talked about episode, celebrating the 38th anniversary of EastEnders.

The female-led episode culminated in six of the soap's favourite matriarchs having a lock-in in the Queen Vic and making a toast to all the men who have wronged them, before a flashforward to scenes that are set to take place in this year's Christmas special.

In the dramatic climax, Denise (Diane Parish), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kellie Bright), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Suki (Balvinder Sopal) are faced with a dead body.

In what is set to be a 10-month long build-up, it is unclear who has met their fate, as the women stand around the body in shock.

Sharon, who is also wearing a blood-stained wedding dress in the scene while Stacey stands with blood on her hands, leant down in the scene to confirm the man is dead.

"OMG the suspense I’m not going to be able to rest until #Christmas2023 !!! #EastEnders”, tweeted one fan.

Another added: "OMG #EASTENDERS HAS ME ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED. JAW F***ING DROPPED [clapping emojis]."

EastEnders executive producer Chris Clenshaw revealed that the flashforward has been in the pipeline since late last year after he’d been looking for a "blockbuster story" and tasked the EastEnders writing team to do something that would "feel different" and "have a different mechanic at its core".

Fans will have to wait for most of the year's storylines to play out, as they search for clues to figure out "who is it" as well as "whodunnit".
