EASTENDERS fans were left moved after a special pre-episode scene paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth featuring Albert Square favourites.
The Queen's death was announced on 8 September at 6:30pm leading to a change in programming, including one of EastEnders' episodes.
Ahead of the first show to air after the Queen's death, a pre-scene showed a number of characters paying tribute to the 96-year-old in the Queen Vic pub.
Pub landlady, Linda Carter was seen with Denise Fox and Kathy around a photo of the Queen.
They referred to her Platinum Jubliee, which was celebrated across the nation, earlier in the year as a "classy way to say goodbye", before Denise, played by Diane Parish, said: "God bless her, she's been there our whole lives. It's like she's everything we've ever known."
Kathy, played by Gillian Taylforth, replied: "Just feels so personal though, doesn't it? Just devastating", before Denise added: "It's like we've lost our nan."
"Well, we have," replied Linda, portrayed by Kellie Bright. "I mean the country's lost… we've all lost our nan. She dedicated her entire life to serving us."
"Selfless," said Kathy, before Denise continued: "We'll never see anyone like her again."
Fans took to social media in response to the scene with one posting: "Lovely tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II at the start of #EastEnders tonight. A great little scene between Linda, Kathy and Denise. They always do this sort of thing so well."
Another shared: "I think for the first time EVER there’s a scene before the titles in tonight’s episode! #EastEnders", while another user praised the tribute: "#EastEnders are always so good at getting topical news into an episode, and this is one that needed to be said."
The Queen was the longest reigning British monarch, serving the country and the commonwealth for 70 years.

Kelly Neelan breaks silence on Corrie character's exit
Coronation Street confirmed the exit story for Kelly Neelan.
The actor behind the character, Millie Gibson shared her opinion on what's been going on with Kelly and her opinion on the exit.
She said: "I think Kelly is completely besotted with Aadi. She has finally found great morals in a man and she has never seen that before, especially in her past with her dad, who ended up being a liar. We also had Corey, who ended up lying to Kelly as well.
"I think Aadi's the only trustworthy person that Kelly has met. She has really fallen hard for him and I think she's very in love at the minute.
"I think Kelly is utterly at rock bottom. There's only so many times she can hit rock bottom before it finally gets to her – from being in prison, being kidnapped and then this. I think it's really got to her now.
"You'll see just how intense it is. This poor 17 year old girl, she's experienced so much in such a short amount of time. It's tense, dramatic scenes."
