EastEnders star Jessica Plummer lands new role in indie film

EastEnders star Jessica Plummer has been cast in a new British indie film.

The actress, known for her role as Chantelle Atkins, will star alongside Tamsin Egerton and Bebe Cave in the film Tell That to the Winter Sea, according to Variety.

Written by Greta Bellamacina, Tell That to the Winter Sea follows the lives of Scarlet and Jo, former lovers who reunite in a country house during Jo’s wedding.

In the country house, other characters will be introduced in a film that explores ‘the complexity of female friendship’ – which has been directed by Emmy award winning Jaclyn Bethany.

The movie will go into production this September.

Jessica’s character, Chantelle, died in 2020 when her abusive husband Gray (Toby-Alexander Smith) pushed her into the dishwasher.

Last year, she starred in the BBC One series The Girl Before.

Based on the book with the same name, it centres on a woman named Jane, who moves into ultra-minimalist house, but must obey the architect’s rules.

She later finds that a girl named Emma [Jessica] lived at the property before and endured a similar experience, leading to many questions over what happened behind closed doors.
