Emma Willis has been showered with support after she announced some exciting news with her loving husband Matt Willis.

On Thursday (August 17), the beloved TV presenter took to social media to share how proud she is of her partner after they “just found out” that Matt’s documentary had been nominated for an award.

Earlier this year, viewers were forced to pass around the tissues after watching his BBC One documentary, Matt Willis: Fighting Addiction, which saw the Busted star open up about his struggled with addiction over the years.

And now, the heart-wrenching documentary has been nominated a National Television Award in the Best Authored Documentary category after impacting so many viewers up and down the country.

The musician will be battling it out for the gilded award against Deborah James: Bowelbade in Her Own Words, Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now and Rob Burrow: Living with MND.

Taking to Instagram, the supportive wife was quick to celebrate her husband’s achievement after being a bit late to the exciting news.

Sharing a sweet selfie of the pair, The Voice UK host wrote: “A little update. WOW. Matt Willis: Fighting Addiction was longlisted for an @officialntas.

“We’ve just found out… it’s been SHORTLISTED for Best Authored Doc!! We’re both so grateful and overwhelmed by the recognition.”

She added: “Openly discussing addiction wasn’t easy for Matt, but seeing the impact it’s had, and hearing all of your stories makes every moment really worth it.

“So many of you commented on socials, and bumping into people when out and about… it’s clear how prevalent these issues are, though so rarely spoken about. Definitely a reminder that we need to keep these conversations alive.”

She then rounded off her post by adding: "Voting is now open" with a winking emoji as fans immediately took to the comments to shower the happy couple with congratulatory comments online.

Loose Women star Ruth Langsford said: "Fantastic! So well deserved….you were both amazing."

First Dates' Fred Siriex replied: "Well done. So brave." as actress Jo Joyner wrote: "Fantastic documentary, thank you for being so honest and brave. Well deserved recognition for a really inspirational and truly supportive & loving couple."

Another agreed: "100% keep this conversation alive . Well done to you and Matt . You are amazing and flawed and it’s ok to. No pressure, we are far from perfect but sunshine and love should help us recover. Much love."

A fifth echoed: "It tore my heart out wanted to hug you both through the tv so proud of how far you've come together as a couple he's so lucky to have you."

In the raw documentary, the doting dad was seen looking back at some of his “darkest days” as he explored what could be behind his, and other people’s addictions.

The film also featured the Big Brother presenter who shared what it was like for her during the early years of her relationships with the musician.

She recalled how the pair managed to pick up the pieces following his relapse in 2016 during Busted’s highly anticipated reunion.

Emma shared how difficult her “worry” surround Matt relapsing can be and in tears, Emma admitted she and Matt rarely talked about his issues before filming the documentary.

She said: “You live in it so much when it happens that once you’re through it, it’s such a f**king relief that you don’t want to go back and talk about it.

“Living with someone with addiction is unpredictable and anxiety-inducing. I try not to think too much about the past, but then I have to remind myself that he’s relapsed massively when I thought he was all good.”
