Gogglebox star Stephen Webb – who stars on the show alongside his husband Daniel Lustig-Webb – has announced he is leaving the much-loved Channel 4 show after a decade on-screen.
The news was confirmed today in a statement by show creators Studio Lambert and Channel 4.
"After a brilliant and illustrious time on Gogglebox, Stephen and Daniel have decided that now is the right time to explore life beyond the sofa and leave the show," it read.
"As one of the original Goggleboxers, Stephen has entertained the nation with his hilarious quips since the show first started in 2013, sharing his opinions on the best and biggest TV events of the last ten years.
"We would like to thank him and Daniel for being utterly brilliant contributors to the show, and we wish them well with their future projects."
Stephen also confirmed the news on Instagram, writing: "After careful consideration, Daniel and I have decided we will not be returning for the new series of Gogglebox. We feel the time is right to move on and explore other opportunities.
"We would like to thank Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for letting us be part of this amazing, funny and heartwarming show. We are also extremely grateful to the cast and crew, or Gogglebox family, as we call them and of course the fans, thank you for all of your love & support over the years."
Stephen – who last week unveiled his incredible body transformation on a Jamaica holiday – first appeared on the show in 2013 as one of its original stars, alongside then-partner Christopher Steed.
Christopher was replaced by Stephen's mother Pat Webb during a stint in 2017 throughout series 10 to 12, until the following year.
She was then swapped out by Stephen's husband Daniel in 2019.
Following their statement, the married duo recorded a video telling their followers how much they'd miss appearing on the show.
"Hi guys, it's Daniel and Stephen," Daniel says. "You might have just seen from our statement that we're not returning to Gogglebox this series."
Stephen then adds: "So, we thought we'd put out this little video especially for the fans of the show just to say thank you for all your love and support over the years. It really has meant a lot.
"And we just wanted to do this video to say thank you to you guys – and if you do get withdrawal symptoms, we are available on Netflix!" he teases.
