This Morning issues apology after caller ‘loses himself’
Holly Willoughby was forced to apologise to ITV viewers after a caller dropped a swear word live on air.
Holly and co-host Josie Gibson were presenting the Spin to Win segment when a player stumbled over his answer.
“Which Strictly judge will we be talking to later on in the show? Who’s coming in?” Holly asked the caller, who was in with the chance of a big win.
“What’s her name? Shirley ba*****,” the participant responded as Holly appeared stunned.
“Shirley Ballas… Shirley Ballas,” she corrected the caller.

“I think we’re all thinking we need to listen to that back,” the presenter continued, “Sorry if you heard that there.”
She added: “But yeah, Shirley Ballas, well done, the bag of shizzle’s on its way to you!”
Later on, Holly and Josie addressed the incident again as they spoke to viewers.
“Erm, we just wanted to say, obviously when we played Spin to Win just now with Ryan, who you span in a three grand jackpot which is amazing.

“And I think in the moment, he might have lost himself slightly with the answer on which Strictly judge was coming to see us.
“And he might have said something that slipped out which he didn’t mean so we’re very sorry if you heard that.”
Giggling, Holly concluded: “And also very sorry to Shirley as well.”
The head judge of Strictly Come Dancing later joined the two hosts to talk about her debut novel, Murder on the Dancefloor.
The 63-year-old described the book as “steamy” and a “murder mystery” which is partially true.
The book is her first novel but she also spoke about a second one coming up.
Holly and Josie expressed their excitement to get stuck into the story before asking the judge about the latest episode of Strictly.
“I really thought the public would get behind Les [Dennis],” Shirley admitted, talking about Les’ elimination.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.35pm on BBC One, while This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
