A HUGE ITV reality reboot has been given a second series before the first has even kicked off.

The broadcaster last year announced Big Brother would be officially returning to ITV2 after a five-year hiatus.



With the reboot set to kick off in October as AJ Odudu and Will Best take over from Emma Willis, the show has been given a second series.

ITV's head of Entertainment Paul Mortimer confirmed the news at this year's Edinburgh TV Festival.

Answering a question from website TVZone, he said: "Yes, we are committed to two series. It will be a hit. We are already in pre-production. It will be — honestly, it's looking fantastic.

"We've pretty much signed off on casting, they're building the house as we speak, it looks amazing…

"So we've got a six-week run coming up, that is our first for ray into it. It will be our first foray into it."

Big Brother fans were recently left delighted when ITV confirmed theiconic live feed would also return.

However, fans shouldn't get their hopes up that 24-hour streaming from the early Channel 4 days will be back.

Mortimer said: "I'm not sure how much. Someone else in the room might be answer this, but we have a ten o'clock show every night after the nine o'clock show, so two hours of Big Brother in the evening."

The Sun exclusively revealed how fame-hungry hopefuls and influencers would not be cast in the reboot.

An insider previously told us: "Casting for the new series opened in October last year and there's been an overwhelming response.

"Bosses have been blown away by the interest in Big Brother – but it shouldn't be surprising given it's the original reality show.

"The casting team and producers are now in the final selection stages and have shortlisted their favourite applicants.

"So far the potential housemates selected are diverse and reflective of the population. They're hoping long-time fans of the show and new viewers are represented on screen."
