Huw Edwards named as BBC presenter at centre of scandal
Last week, the BBC confirmed they had suspended a BBC News broadcaster following the picture allegations, and it was later confirmed to be Huw Edwards.
After Huw was named by his wife, Vicky Flind, the BBC said it resume its investigation into the BBC News star despite the police confirming no criminality took place.
Huw is a regular face on BBC News at Ten, but it is unclear when he is expected to return to his job role following the scandal.
Clive Myrie and Sophie Raworth, who are also staples on BBC News, have stepped in to fill Huw’s slot and insiders claim Clive is the frontrunner to stand in on the 10pm news bulletin.
According to the Daily Mail, Sophie and Fiona Bruce are also names that have been thrown into the mix.

The publication claimed a number of BBC insiders believe that Clive is the most likely to replace Huw, for both the main news reading role and for fronting coverage of the big occasions.
Others believe Fiona, who currently presents Question Time and Antiques Roadshow as well as fronting news bulletins, could step into Huw’s shoes.
Express.co.uk has reached out to the BBC for comment.

Clive told viewers: “He is one of the most recognisable faces on British television, anchoring national and international events often from this very chair.
“But tonight, Huw Edwards, the lead anchor of the BBC’s News at Ten, has been revealed as the man at the centre of allegations over the payment of thousands of pounds to a young person for explicit pictures.”
On Wednesday night, Huw’s wife named the BBC presenter and issued a statement on his behalf.
It read: “In light of the recent reporting regarding the ‘BBC Presenter’ I am making this statement on behalf of my husband Huw Edwards, after what have been five extremely difficult days for our family.
“I am doing this primarily out of concern for his mental well-being and to protect our children. Huw is suffering from serious mental health issues.
“As is well documented, he has been treated for severe depression in recent years.
“The events of the last few days have greatly worsened matters, he has suffered another serious episode and is now receiving in-patient hospital care where he’ll stay for the foreseeable future.
“Once well enough to do so, he intends to respond to the stories that have been published.
“To be clear Huw was first told that there were allegations being made against him last Thursday. In the circumstances and given Huw’s condition I would like to ask that the privacy of my family and everyone else caught up in these upsetting events is respected.
“I know that Huw is deeply sorry that so many colleagues have been impacted by the recent media speculation. We hope this statement will bring that to an end.”
