I was on Married at First Sight and feel sorry for the new Love Island stars already under pressure to stay together | The Sun

MARRIED At First Sight star Amy Christophers says she "feels sorry" for the Love Island couples "under pressure" to make their relationship work.

Amy appeared on the first UK series of the E4 show in 2021 when she married a stranger.

The pre-recorded series plays out months after being filmed – giving stars a chance to prepare for their newfound fame.

For Love Islanders, they're thrown into the spotlight as soon as they leave the villa – sometimes with difficult consequences.

Catherine & Elom and Leah & Montel split just days after returning to normal life.

Amy's relationship sadly didn't last on the outside either, but she says on the latest episode of Lord Ping series Red Or Black: "Obviously nobody knew that we were together or that we had done this show, so we didn’t have any public pressure on us.

"I do feel sorry for the Love Islanders, because when you come out of Married At First Sight, you’ve got a long time where nobody knows that you’ve done this.

"You can walk down the street and just be in your own little bubble before it becomes public.

"Love Island, they get no breathing space. Girls, guys, can just be sliding into the DMs – you’ve got all of that to contend with and I’m glad I didn’t have that.

“I think there is a lot of pressure. Obviously, you’re just used to being in your own little bubble, be it on MAFS or Love Island or whatever show it is that you’ve done and that is your safety blanket.

"As soon as you’re out of that environment, it’s like ‘woah’ – and also, you kind of want to just go back to your normal life and do normal things and it’s like, ‘Now I’m with him.’ It’s very surreal, and it’s sort of like having a holiday romance.

"It’s all good when you’re there, but when you’re back it’s like how are the logistics of this going to work here.”

Amy has returned to her job as a journalist in the sports industry.

She's also released her own WOW by Amy earrings collection.
