Kris Marshall will be returning to the small screen as Sanditon makes a comeback and fans naturally want to know all there is to know about the 50-year-old.

Sanditon season three will be making its UK debut today, Thursday, August 16, with episodes coming out on ITVX after initially coming out on PBS in America.

Along with Rose Williams and Anne Reid, Marshall will be reprising his role as Tom Parker in the upcoming six hour-long episodes.

It was then in 2014, that he took over as the lead detective as Humphrey Goodman in Death in Paradise, from Ben Miller’s Richard Poole.

He remained in the BBC comedy-drama until 2017 when he announced he would be leaving the show to spend more time with his family, telling Good Morning Britain that he often felt “bereft” from spending weeks away from his loved ones.

While it isn’t known how he met his wife Hannah Dodkin, they started dating in 2010 before getting engaged the following year and tying the knot in February 2012 in his hometown of Wells, Somerset.

The pair went on to have two children, son Thomas, and daughter Elsie, with the family of four residing in Bath.

But it was in 2008 that Marshall was left fighting for his life as he was involved in a car accident following a night out in Bristol.

He was out with his friends when he was hit by a car and reportedly thrown 12ft into the air.

The actor was left with a collapsed lung, hip damage and a cut across his face but, thankfully, he survived the ordeal and could continue his acting career.

It was three years later, however, that Marshall got in trouble with the law.

Metro.co.uk reported at the time that the actor was woken by police officers in a Tesco car park in Wells as he was found sleeping in his vehicle with the seat inclined, key in the ignition and radio on.

The police became aware after a member of the public notified them and when officers arrived, they could smell alcohol.

He admitted he had been drinking and provided a positive breath test, so was arrested.

Marshall then failed to supply a second specimen at the station after several attempts with the actor blaming his asthma.

His defence lawyer stated that he had driven into town for a few drinks and decided to sleep in his car as he was over the limit.

Marshall pleaded guilty to failing to provide a breath specimen while in charge of a vehicle and was given a six-month driving ban as a result.

Sanditon season three premieres on Thursday, August 16, on ITVX.
