ITV I’m A Celeb chaos as soap star is forced to pull out days before start

ITV's I'm A Celebrity is in a bit of a pickle as soap star Alan Halsall has had to pull out just days before the show starts. Alan, who you might know as Tyrone Dobbs from Coronation Street, has had a big knee operation and needs some time off to get better.

Alan was a favourite for fans who wanted to see him take on Bushtucker Trials. But he's had to say no to the jungle after having surgery on his ACL ligament last week, which he said went "really well".

The 41 year old actor hurt his knee while exercising and now he can't do any sport for up to a year. An ITV insider told the Mirror: "It's a big blow, but there's no way he can go to Australia his surgeon would have a fit. Alan needs to recover fully and then maybe he can take part next year. It's a massive shame because everyone was really looking forward to having him on the show, but these things happen."

The operation Alan had involves taking out the damaged ACL and replacing it with a tendon from another part of the leg. He shared a photo of his bandaged leg on Instagram and wrote: "On Friday I underwent ACL reconstruction surgery. I have been told the surgery went really well. I know I have a long 9-12 months of rehabilitation ahead of me but I'm sure with the support of family and friends I'll get there."

A Coronation Street spokeswoman shared that Tyrone will continue to be on our screens for the rest of the year, but will then take a short break.

She said: "Alan will be on screen in the coming weeks as we film two months ahead, and then he'll be taking a short break whilst he recovers." Alan, who is a dad-of-one, has been focusing on his fitness recently, often seen at the gym and enjoying activities like weightlifting, hiking, badminton, and cycling.

Samia Longchambon, who plays Maria Windass, sent him a sweet message saying: "Rest up. Holler if you need some grapes." Jane Danson, known for her role as Leanne Battersby, wrote: "Oh Al hope you're ok love! We'll all look after you in Weatherfield."

Colson Smith, who portrays Craig Tinker, commented: "Get that rested up for (the) Christmas party." Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Habeeb, posted: "Aw recover well, darling!", while Claire Sweeney, who recently joined as Cassie Plummer, declared: "This is great news, glad it was a success." Sally Carman, who plays Abi Webster, added: "Oh bless you, Al. So glad it went well."

The official line-up for I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here hasn't been announced yet, and ITV chose not to comment. However, insiders revealed that First Dates star Fred Siriex has officially signed up for the show. He'll be joining Britney's sister Jamie Lynn Spears, politician Nigel Farage, critic Grace Dent and ex-EastEnder Danielle Harold.

The fresh season of I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! is set to kick off on November 19 on ITV. Don't forget to follow Mirror Celebs on Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Threads for all the latest updates.
