ITV issues Dancing on Ice host update after Phillip Schofield This Morning exit

ITV has issued a statement about skating show Dancing on Ice after Phillip Schofield dramatically left This Morning.

Phillip, 61, has been hosting the hit ice-skating competition with Holly Willoughby since it was first launched in 2006.

But after Phillip issued a shock statement to announce he was leaving This Morning after growing rumours about a feud with Holly, there has been speculation about his future.

His future on the show remains unknown and a spokesperson for ITV has said that nothing has been decided.

They told Metro.co.uk that "further announcements" about the show will be made "in due course".

They added: "Dancing On Ice isn’t due on ITV until January 2024 and the series is not currently in production."

Holly's co-presenter on This Morning is also undecided, with the host taking a break during the half-term holidays following Phil's exit.

Speaking on Monday's episode, Dermot O'Leary confirmed that she would be back on the show on Monday, June 5.

He and Alison Hammond have stepped in as the show's lead presenters following Phil's statement.

It read: "I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.

"Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.

"So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month."

Dancing on Ice will return in January on ITV.
