Love Is Blind viewers left confused over fake crying scene after proposal rejection

Love Is Blind viewers have all been left scratching their heads this week, after a bizarre scene made its way into the final cut of the popular Netflix dating show’s latest season,

The quirky show, which tasks a batch of singletons with finding the love of their lives based on everything other than looks, returned for a third season on Wednesday, leading millions of fans around the world to quickly race to binge the entire series.

Among this year’s singletons, was Andrew Y. Liu, a former operations director turned wildlife photographer, who seemed to have found a spark with fellow contestant Nancy Rodriguez.

With the pair initially getting on really well, Andrew turned on his flirtatious charms and revealed that he had a keen interest in big cats, and as per his own words, "sexual kung fu”.

Alongside the admission, Andrew even took things one step further as he proposed to Nancy, although she ultimately turned him down.

Yet it was Andrew’s response to the rejection that left many fans at home utterly baffled, as during his confessional in which he shared his feelings about the snub, he paused for a moment to ask if the camera was still rolling and for permission to use his eye drops.

The producers granted their approval on medical grounds, with them telling Andrew he was welcome to use the drops if his eyes were hurting – which he then did.

Yet mere seconds later, with tears running down his cheeks, he told the camera: "I never thought I could care for someone that could bring me to tears.”

The bizarre inclusion of the scene led many to question the sincerity of Andrew’s words, but also the production’s decision to use the scene in the final edit, with several immediately taking to social media to voice their thoughts.

"The visine tears???? ANDREW,” wrote one fan, with a string of skull emoji’s.

Another fan quipped: “One of the #LoveisBlind producers had it out for Andrew and made sure the clip of him fake crying made it into the final cut.”

“Andrew with the eye drops for fake tears saying totally rehearsed to camera “I never thought I could care for someone who brought me to tears” omg pls help, ” added another viewer.

While a fourth weighed in by tweeting: “I had to rewind was Andrew really using eye drops to give himself fake tears? My guy this is a Netflix show you won’t get an Oscar.”

With a fifth also agreeing as they concluded: “Andrew giving the performance of his life using fake tears and the producers of Love is Blind leaving it in the final edit was not on my 2022 bingo card but I’m so happy it’s on there.”

Despite the claims to the contrary however, the show’s host Vanessa Lachey insisted Andrew was taking care of his dry eyes and nothing more.

Speaking to Bustle she said: "Oh, he wasn't doing fake tears. He was taking care of his dry eyes.”

Co-host Nick Lachey also agreed with this assessment, as he argued it was actually quite “muggy” while they were filming and that Andrew’s “personal humidifier” had broken.

Love Is Blind season three is available on Netflix now.
