Love Island’s awkward Meet The Parents moments – blunder, brutal snub and chaos

Love Island's Meet The Parents episode is one of the best parts of the series.

Each of the couples get the chance to meet their potential future in-laws in front of the ITV2 cameras.

The remaining pairs have a catch-up with their nearest and dearest after weeks away from home.

While some get on like a house on fire, other meetings don't quite go to plan.

From getting their child's new partner's name wrong to appearing stoney-face throughout their chat, Daily Star has taken a look at the most awkward moments.

Paige Thorne's parents

Paige's mum and dad flew to Spain last year to meet her partner Adam Collard, who had previously taken part in the ITV2 dating show in 2018.

Gareth and Beverley entered the villa and both looked less than enthused about the Geordie hunk.

Dad Gareth who got viewers talking as he remained stony faced throughout and admitted he had only watched one episode.

Mum Beverley went on to make a series of ‘savage’ comments about Adam, telling Paige “she wasn’t buying it.”

Indiyah Polack's family

During the parents meet-up in 2022, Indiyah's mum Dee slipped up and called her daughter's partner Dami Hope "Deji" by accident.

Deji Adeniyi was the person Indiyah coupled up with after Casa Amor and brought back to the villa.

Dami, of course, seemed to see the funny side, laughing, "Deji?! Why?!"

Indiyah, however, later told the beach hut, "Like mother, like daughter. When she did that, I literally just wanted the floor to swallow me up."

Curtis Pritchard's mum

In 2019, Curtis' family were each sent in to meet his partner Maura Higgins but off to a terrible start when Mrs Pritchard couldn't remember Maura's name.

After talking about how nice Curits' ex Amy Hart was, she began chatting about Maura, referring to her repeatedly as 'Moira' instead.

Curtis attempted to correct her but she could not get it right.

Fans quick to comment on the cringeworthy scenes, with many also noting that Mrs Pritchard 'looked just like Amy'.

Dani Dyer's dad

Viewers were left waiting all if series four to see if Danny Dyer would make an appearance in the Love Island.

He did appear in the Meet The Parents episode in 2018 but via video call with wife Joanne.

After meeting Dani's partner Jack Fincham, Danny said: "Babe he’s lovely. He’s a proper geezer mate. You’ve found a right proper geezer in there."

The EastEnders icon couldn't help but point out that Jack didn't look like the other ripped lads.

He continued: “You know what, Jack? You’re a proper geezer, gotta say mate. I tell ya what I love about ya. I love the fact you got a little derby [stomach], you’ve got so much charisma.

"Listen, it takes a brave man to bowl in that gaff, they’re all ab’ed up and they ain’t got nothing about em. No disrespect, yeah. Proper geezer.”

Chris' Hughes mum

Love Island fans were left "cringing" as Chris Hughes' family met his partner Olivia Attwood during series three back in 2017.

The only words Chris' mum uttered about the blonde bomshell were "Olivia is very sweet" – clearly biting her tongue about what she really thinks of the fiery-tempered star.

Viewers took to Twitter to joke about the situation, with one posting: 'Why did Chris' mum lie tho calling Olivia "sweet" #LoveIsIand'.

Another added: 'Lol so Chris' mum is scared of Olivia as well #loveisland'.

"'Chris's mum and dad very diplomatic 'You are very beautiful Olivia ' #LoveIsland'.," a third person said.

Love Island airs nightly on ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm
