BBC staple Strictly Come Dancing continued on Saturday, with the remaining dancers taking to the floor to try to maintain their spot in the competition. However, not all of the loyal professionals are paired with a celebrity partner, and Neil, 40, has had only two partners during his six-year stint on the programme. Fans spotted what they believed to be a loaded remark from the dancer regarding this during Saturday’s show.

During the show, Neil appeared on Ellie Simmonds and Nikita Kuzmin’s VT.

In the Halloween Special episode, the show favourite got involved in the couple’s Scooby Doo Foxtrot training.

In the clip, the couple starred in a mini film for their Halloween dance in which they chased a Scooby Doo villain.

Pinning the “villain” down, they unmasked him and Neil turned out to be under the costume.

He commented: “I would have got away with it if it wasn’t for you pesky people and your Foxtrot.”

Later, Ellie asked him: “How’s it all been going, Neil?”

The choreographer replied: “Yeah, they’ve been keeping me busy, a bit of this and that.”

Fans took the remark to be a dig at his lack on screen time and the fact he is once again without a partner.

Neil has only ever been partnered twice, while other professionals receive a partner every year.

In series 17, he was paired with former footballer Alex Scott and came in fifth place.

In 2021 for series 19, he was partnered with EastEnders star Nina Wadia, but the two were booted out of the competition on week one.

After his brief appearance last weekend, fans begged for him to have more of a role in strictly.
