Our Yorkshire Farms Clive quits spin-off show after taking the blame for marriage split

Clive Owen has announced that he’s taking a step back from his Channel 5 show, Beyond The Yorkshire Farm.

The programme began airing in December last year and shone the spotlight on Clive, 68, and his eldest son Reuben.

The spin-off series was launched in the wake of Clive’s split from his wife of 22 years Amanda, with whom he found fame on Our Yorkshire Farm. During their 22-year marriage, they welcomed nine children together.

On Thursday, 68 year old Clive – who despite his television fame, prefers to live his life out of the spotlight – made a rare talk show appearance as he featured on ITV's Lorraine.

Speaking to presenter Christine Lampard, he revealed his decision to step back from Beyond The Yorkshire Farm as he told the host: “We've done this [show] with Reuben, it's been great fun working with him. Cos he's crazy too, so we've had a grand time doing it.

“I think I'm stepping back from that now. I think he's gonna go on on his own. Because he doesn't want me on his hands.”

Clive did hint that he’s open to offers of TV work though, as he added: “So, I have no plans to do anything in particular, but you never know, someone might be daft enough to ask me.”

Clive and Reuben’s show had been a ratings hit for Channel 5, attracting 1.8 million viewers according to the Daily Mail.

Clive’s Lorraine appearance also saw the dad-of-nine speak out in defence of his ex Amanda, following reports she has moved on with another man.

In what ended up being a bombshell-packed interview, Clive begged social media viewers to leave his ex-wife alone and took responsibility for their split.

He said: "It's a tough time for Amanda now and I think it's only right, because I don't do social media, to speak out.

"We filmed Our Yorkshire Farm, people loved it and it was an opportunity to make something as a family. That was what drove her. It was amazing and very successful but I handled it very badly.

Clive continued: "It was such a change in our lives and I sadly made a right mess of things basically. I had a massive part to play in the relationship ending…. A massive part to play. I was ranting and raving and drinking and carrying on. I don't know – jealousy."

"It seemed to eat away at me and I handled it badly and I behaved badly towards her. I should have been supportive… It's been really upsetting, Amanda's having a tough time at the moment.

"I just feel I can't sit back. I have to say something in her defence, she's a remarkable woman. We just got to the point where we couldn't be together anymore."

Amanda is allegedly in a new relationship with businessman, Robert Davies.

Their romance came to light in March and Robert’sex then explosively claimedthe couple had been seeing each other for five years.

The duo are believed to have met when Robert encouraged the Owen family to take their farming business online. Amanda has remained tight-lipped on the situation.
