Romeo kisses Peri in Hollyoaks as he's consumed by grief over Juliet

Romeo Nightingale (Owen Warner) sought solace with Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell) in Hollyoaks, leaning in for a kiss as he struggled to come to terms with Juliet’s (Niamh Blacksahw) death.

Juliet, as viewers know, tragically died earlier this month after a battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, shortly after learning that her prognosis was terminal.

Peri, who was by her side every step of the way, struggled in the wake of her beloved girlfriend’s passing, and subsequently headed off to spend some time with Sid Sumner (Billy Price), who loved Jules just as much as she did.

Romeo, meanwhile, stayed behind in the village and desperately tried to stay strong for his loved ones as he organised Juliet’s funeral, with controlling girlfriend Rayne Royce (Jemma Donovan) determined to assist.

The pressures got to Romeo, however, and he was delighted to hear that Peri had returned home, knowing that she’s the only person that truly understands what he’s going through.

Rayne was less than pleased at his insistence to spend some alone time with Peri, who was similarly finding it difficult to process the fact that Juliet is gone.

At the park, the pair reflected on Juliet and how much they loved her, with Romeo explaining that he feels like he’s letting everyone down.

Peri was quick to reassure him that this isn’t the case at all and that he’s coping vert well, as she put a supportive hand on his heart to console him.

But with emotions running high and their shared grief at the forefront, Romeo misread the signals and leaned in for a kiss, locking lips with Peri for just a moment.

Peri, however, pulled back, evidently outraged by what he’s done. Romeo soon realised the error of his ways, but is it too late to make amends?

Has he pushed away the only person who truly comprehends his struggles?

What’s more, will Rayne find out about what Romeo has done? The influencer has a dark past that we know very little about, so we imagine she’s not someone you’d want to get on the wrong side of.

Hollyoaks continues Friday June 23 at 7pm on E4 or stream the next episode on All4 from midnight.
