Samantha Womack breaks silence on EastEnders return after co-star claimed Mitchell sisters could come back | The Sun

ACTRESS Samantha Womack has finally broken her silence on a possible return to Eastenders.

Samantha's character Ronnie Mitchell was killed off in 2017 but according to her former co-star Rita Simons, who played her sister Roxy Mitchell, there could be a possibility that the two could grace the small screen once again.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, Samantha, 50, was asked by host Susanna Reid if a return to Albert Square was on the cards.

In response, the acclaimed actress said: "I love her positivity. We were seen at the end of the episode floating quite lifelessly in the pool but I love her positivity and I'm definitely going to watch it."

She added: " I was in Spain and my VPN wasn't working but I really want to watch it."

The pair's exit storyline saw both Ronnie and Roxy drown in a pool leaving their bodies floating lifelessly.

But last month it was revealed that Rita was set to reprise her role as Roxy Mitchell as a one off special, as she appears in her daughter Amy's dreams from the grave.

And it has since been made clear that the soap star has hopes that it could lead to something more permanent.

Despite Rita's character being dead, she told The Sun: "It is up to the viewers how far they are willing to accept whether she is alive or not. EastEnders belongs to the public and it is up to them to decide."

She continued: "Now is the time to say I played that scene as if I was holding my breath. Go back and watch it online and you will see next to nothing of me at all. "

Rita added: "I also refused to do the coffin scene. I was asked directly to my face and I refused point blank. It was really difficult because I was never a difficult actress or a diva but I had to do this thing to have any chance to protect me because I cared about Roxy.

The actress then explained: " I didn’t let anyone film me jump in the pool, so no one saw me drown."
