Sarah Ferguson stuns in purple gown amid ‘talks for This Morning job after Holly exit’

Sarah Ferguson stunned in a purple gown on Thursday as she attended the Red Cross Charity Event in Italy, following reports she could be set for a career in TV.

The Duchess of York, 64, was all smiles as she attended the photocall for the event in Rome on 9 November, and posed for snaps with film producer Tiziana Rocca and tycoon Hormoz Vasfi.

Sarah, also known as Fergie, turned heads in a floor-length purple dress complete with a neck tie and sheer puff sleeves. She accessorised with black heeled boots and a small wristwatch, as well as her diamond-encrusted 'Eugenie' bracelet.

The mum-of-two, who shares daughters Princess Beatrice, 35, and Princess Eugenie, 33, with ex-husband Prince Andrew, finished off her look with pearl-drop earrings and two beaded bracelets.

Sarah styled her signature red locks in loose curls and sported minimal make-up, having opted for a fresh faced look.

The Duchess' outing comes after it was revealed she could be being lined up to present ITV's This Morning, following the departure of both Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield over recent months.

The 64 year old reportedly impressed TV bosses when she appeared on Loose Women to discuss her breast cancer ordeal.

A TV insider told the Mirror: "The Duchess was a real hit with ITV bosses on Loose Women, everyone thought she was a natural. There is an open invitation for her to return to Loose Women and there is also talk of her doing a guest slot on This Morning or a mini-series for them.

"She has done quite a lot of TV work before – at one point she stood in for Larry King in the US."

A source close to the Duchess said she had "hugely enjoyed" co-hosting Loose Women to promote a campaign to persuade women not to skip breast cancer screening, but refused to comment on other projects.

Sarah is one of the many names rumoured to be in the running to replace Holly, along with Alison Hammond, Rylan Clark, Josie Gibson, Rochelle Humes and Davina McCall.

Over the course of her life in the public eye, The Duchess has been no stranger to telly and previously worked as a special correspondent on NBC's Today in the States.

She has also fronted documentaries in the UK including The Duchess in Hull and The Duchess on the Estate as she immersed herself into how different families lived and how to improve their lifestyles.
