BBC’s cooking show Saturday Kitchen returned to screens for another episode of food and laughter as Matt Tebbutt welcomed writer Dawn O’Porter and chefs Mike Reid and Rukmini Iyer. However, he was forced to derail the cooking demo after he couldn’t find his key ingredient.
Dawn O’Porter joined the chefs to promote her new book Cat Lady and try the meals created.
Chef Mike Reid was the first to take to the kitchen and share his recipe from his popular lunch menu of Steak Frites.
He used a cut of skirt steak, air-fried fries and Parisian sauce, which was made up of butter, anchovies and parsley.
However, as Matt began to help out by chopping potatoes, the chef ended up losing the chips.

As they discussed Mike’s multiple restaurants and his life in Australia, Matt sliced the potatoes to create the chips for the steak frites dish.
He was able to bring the potatoes to a boil and take them over to be cooked in the air fryer.
Matt then shared his uncertainty about air fryers which Mike described as a “convention oven and a microwave all in one”.
However, Matt had trouble locating his chips when he went to take them out of the air fryer.
As Mike made the sauce for the dish, Matt could be seen looking around confused as he searched for the chips.
The chef was forced to interrupt the cooking and derail the show as he addressed the off-camera crew and asked: “I’ll tell you what, can we get some chips?”
“Where are they?” he probed, just as Mike responded: “They’re in the air fryer.”
Realising his mistake, a relieved Matt gasped: “Oh, they’re here, sorry.”
While everyone laughed, Mike joked: “I swapped them over, while you were talking I was cooking.”
To which Matt hit back: “Sorry, I’m not used to this.
“I’m looking around for the chips trying to be all subtle, obviously they were in there.”
Speaking on his amazement at the air fryer, Matt admitted: “They’re really nice, I really like those.
“I’m really surprised, I didn’t know how those things worked,” he added. “Well I love the fact that you as a professional chef love them so much.”
As they plated up the food, Mike served steak frites with a blood orange vinaigrette salad and Parisian sauce.
Wine connoisseur Helen McGinn paired the dish with red Bordeaux at a cost-effective price from Aldi, which she described as a “juicy fresh red Bordeaux”.
Mike received positive feedback from Dawn who stated: “This is my perfect breakfast, that sauce is incredible, I love it.”
Chef Rukmini Iyer then took to the kitchen to share her recipe of a Bengali fish fry with roasted cauliflower roasted and mushroom chilli dressing.
