As well as being EastEnders’ hardest hard man, Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) has also been quite the ladies’ man over the years.
He’s been married four times – to Romanian refugee Nadia Boravac (Anna Barkan), Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), Kate Morton (Jill Halfpenny) and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), engaged four more times and has been in romantic partnerships with at least half of the women who’ve ever wandered through Albert Square, apart from those related to him.
Being in a relationship with Phil is not always a bed of roses. You can’t be Walford’s hardest hard man without leaving a string of crimes in your wake, and Phil has also battled alcohol and drug addiction over the years. He’s also survived being shot and recently narrowly avoided death in prison. Plus his sheer manly appeal means he’s often been tempted to stray.
So as his wedding to Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) approaches, a few of his exes get together in the Vic to celebrate not being with Phil Mitchell.
Kathy Beale of course goes back a long way with Phil and is the mother of his son Ben (Max Bowden). She and Phil have a fairly good relationship these days as they’ve united to look out for Ben, but she certainly doesn’t envy Kat as she prepares to be Phil’s bride.
Nor does Shirley Carter (Linda Henry), who was briefly engaged to Phil. She used to love him once, but more recently blamed him for the death of her sister Tina.
Completing the trio toasting not being married to Phil is Sharon – but her heart isn’t really in it. After Phil recently declared that he possibly regretted him and Sharon ever breaking up, Sharon has been on a mission to persuade Phil that she’s the one he should be with, not Kat.
This September on #EastEnders the past and present collide.

And when she learns that Kat hasn’t turned up at the church for the ceremony, perhaps she’ll be able to grab her chance.
