Strictly Come Dancing fans demand host is replaced as they say show is ruined

Strictly Come Dancing fans have demanded big changes to spin-off show, It Takes Two, following the introduction of a new segment on Monday (October 3).

The first instalment of the BBC series went down a storm with viewers hailing new host Fleur East as "a breath of fresh air". Those opinions soon soured, however, with some hitting out at an "abysmal" change in format on the show.

Every week former X Factor contestant Fleur, 35, will perform a rap to describe what happened on the main show at the weekend. But the idea has gone down like a lead balloon with some even calling for Fleur to be given the boot from her new role. The singer replaced previous presenter Rylan Clark to take the reins alongside former dancer, Janette McNamara.

True to her word, Fleur declared, "I thought I'd sum it up for you in the only way I know how. Hit the music. It's time to rap this up!" before proceeding with the "weekly rap up".

Viewers took to X, formerly Twitter, shortly afterwards to publicly express their feelings, many of which were less than complimentary.

One angry user of the platform declared: "#Strictly Fleur rap on It Takes Two… Never again That was abysmal." Another agreed: "I get the urge to destroy things when Fleur East starts rapping. So annoying! #strictly."

A third commented: "Oh dear. It Takes Two needs to find a new presenter immediately. #painfulrap #strictly." A fourth wrote: "OMG, please no more stupid raps- hideous! #strictly." And a fifth penned: "It takes two is ruined. Stupid rap omg #Strictly."

Monday's show also featured appearances from celebrity Les Dennis and his professional dance partner, Nancy Xu, who became the first couple to be voted off this year's competition. Former Family Fortunes presenter, Les, told Fleur: "I know I'm not the best dancer – obviously I'm not – but I just wanted to be entertaining.

He continued: I mean the standard is amazing this year. When it's over it's over, so I just had fun and I'm sorry that Nancy's journey has ended so early. The standard is amazing and I wouldn't like to call it."

Elsewhere in Strictly Land, Nikita Kanda looks set to be the next contestant to leave according to a body language expert. The BBC Asian Network presenter narrowly avoided elimination at the weekend, but Darren Stanton, believes she is on borrowed time.

"I did think Nikita and Gorka would struggle in the competition initially, but when it was announced they would be in the dance-off, you could see how important it meant for them to stay," he explained. "Nikita was nearly in tears, she also dipped her head down and moved it to the right, which is an expression of feeling shame.

"I could tell she felt she let Gorka down. She really needs to up her game now they were saved. There is a lack of confidence from Nikita. Gorka is doing what he can to give her a boost, but she could potentially be leaving next week."

Strictly It Takes Two airs weeknights on BBC Two at 6.30pm
