UK Eurovision star Mae Muller faces defeat as bookies reveal 'nul point' odds | The Sun

THE UK's Eurovision hopeful Mae Muller risks a heavy defeat tonight, according to bookies.

Mae's chances of winning have plummeted in recent hours from 40/1 to 60/1, says Betfair.

Odds are even at 50/1 for her to get 'nul points' after her predecessor Sam Ryder finished in second place last year.

The UK has received “nul points” or "nil points" twice.

The unlucky recipients were Liverpool duo Jemini back in 2003.

The shock result came after they performed their song Cry Baby.

Mae Muller winning odds hit 40/1 as Liverpool is set to host Grand Final TONIGHT

In May 2021, the UK received another dreadful result for UK entry James Newman – who gained zero points from the public and the juries.

UK entry Mae hopes not to repeat the past when Eurovision kicks off on rival channel BBC tonight at 8pm, hosted by Graham Norton.

The competition's grand final is being hosted in Liverpool tonight.

It's after the UK finished runner-up last year to war-torn Ukraine with Sam's hit song Space Man.

He wowed judges and audience alike to score the highest place the UK has reached in Eurovision for over 20 years, losing out the top spot to winners Ukraine.

The last time the UK reached second place was in 1998 with Imaani’s Where Are You.

Hopeful Mae, 25, wants to make the UK "proud" with her performance of I Wrote A Song.

She was put on vocal rest by doctors earlier this week ahead of her much-anticipated performance.

Mae took to social media to share an emotional message ahead of her performance: "I cant believe we made it to may 13th.

"The last three months have been a whirlwind. We laughed we cried and everything in between but I wouldn't change a single second, and none of it would be even remotely achievable without the people around me and the ESC community.

"You guys embraced me with open arms and I'm forever grateful.

"Tonight is the night & i just hope I can do all of you proud, but whatever the outcome, thank you, thank you, thank you. Eurovision you have a place in my heart forever."

Meanwhile Ladbrokes insists Sweden is favourite to win tonight with Finland and Israel following closely behind.
