Female prison officer, 25, 'smuggled designer clothes and mobile to boyfriend behind bars' | The Sun

A FEMALE prison officer smuggled designer clothes and women's underwear to her lag boyfriend, a court heard today.

Rachel Martin allegedly embarked on an "emotional and intimate relationship" with Raymond Abraham at HMP Guys Marsh in Dorset.

The 25-year-old sent him a parcel containing high-end clothing, a phone and women's underwear, it is said.

Martin also allegedly received money in return for the smuggled goods.

She appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court today charged with ten counts of wilfully neglecting her duty as a prison officer.

The charges state she entered into a relationship with Abraham between November 1, 2020 and March 8, 2021 – creating a "conflict of interest and contravening the working practices of the prison".

Martin allegedly supplied the prisoner with a Zanco mobile phone and later encouraged a third party to buy a top-up card, telling them: "Don't forget Ray's £30 Lyca top up".

The court was told she spoke with Abraham via text message but did not report the fact he had a mobile.

Martin is also accused of texting two other prisoners, Hassan Sufi and James Phillips, at HMP Guys Marsh.

The officer was granted unconditional bail to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court next month.
